I just noticed the A app on my screen. I usually read the Atlantic on the browser on my computer. I like the app. It’s perfect for a late night glance at what’s happening. I laughed when I got to the end and it said “Now go to bed.”

I have always appreciated the Atlantic, it’s writing and what it stands for. The layout of the app is fantastically accessible, user friendly, and personable. I appreciate the recent efforts to diversify reading habits and interests as well, by offering short stories and news from science, health, and technology.

A few years ago I subscribed to the print edition of the Atlantic Magazine. Four months before that subscription was due to expire, my credit card was charged for another year without my authorization. (They tried to sneak it in during the Xmas holidays). I contacted VISA and the illegal charge was deleted. Because I like the publication, I recently decided instead to try the app’s two week “free trial” while deciding whether to continue with a paid monthly or annual subscription. The next morning, I received an email from Apple indicating an unauthorized $49.99 charge for the annual subscription. Perhaps, I might not have qualified for the free trial because of my previous print subscription, but even if that is the case it does not confer the right to unilaterally charge me for a subscription, especially of their choosing. Fortunately, Apple’s excellent customer service removed the charged. There are other issues this company so I’d recommend carefully reading a sampling of the customer reviews.

The Atlantic does in-depth coverage, often of topics that are different from the headline stories of the day. There’s always something interesting to read via this app.

I don’t read enough, period. So when I get the chance I appreciate that I have a resource that tends to cruise appreciably above the noise to offer well-written stories about things that matter. Thanks Atlantic. Your magazine always injects a bit of increasingly rarer civilized insight into my day.

Great app. The magazine functionality could use improvement. It is great that I can download it but I can't bookmark where I left off and means that the magazine starts all over again and I have to remember the page. Give me a dogear function. Keep up the great reporting
Great articles, poor app design

Have greatly enjoyed my subscription to the Atlantic these past few months. As a frequent user of the app, however, there is much to be desired. Might be greatly improved by considering the three following things: 1. The search feature is difficult to find, if it exists at all. 2. Connected to #1, but the scrolling interface makes it incredibly hard to find an article one read, say, last week, without first determining which section it might fall under and then scrolling through article after article. 3. The linking to other Atlantic articles or Atlantic writers’ pages causes one to leave the app and opens up an internet browser, where I may need to log in again. This is the case on iPhone, at least.
