Terra Battle is a very unique game that combines elements of strategy and role-playing games that will give you a good challenge and experience like no other game in the app store. The game boasts very lovely artwork, an amazing soundtrack and a surprisingly deep story that will you engaged as you progress the game. Though slow and a bit hard to follow at first (considering the story doesn’t explain much and just thrusts you into ‘the world’ without you knowing who you are and what you are doing) you begin to find that you are apart of a larger plot that involves saving the inhabitants of Terra and stopping the sinister forces that threaten them. That being said you will recruit characters, as well as monsters, and companions to help you on your quest to see yourself through the game. Though some of the roster of characters and companions are questionable in their abilities and uses you will find that they have their place in the game to get you through some of the more challenging parts of the story. The gameplay does present a unique way to play, by moving characters across a board to engage in combat, and it bring with it a lot of trial and error to get the mechanics and strategy down. The game forces you to change up your line-up to adapt to different scenarios in combat so do need to play different characters and strengthen them to advance. I’ve come to love this game since it offers limited events, new characters and mechanics to use, and a co-op mode to play with other players. If anything there is not much to gripe about but there are a couple of nagging issues that I hope the developers can address. One of the big issues is co-op mode. I’ve found it to be hard to find any matches to do much, besides the pvp cup modes, since the game doesn’t actually show who has parties open to jump in rooms with on the public servers. Also when trying to fight the eidolons there seems to be no one around to party with so maybe is there a way to just let people just fight them in a non co-op mode? Also another gripe I have is that the game does get ridiculously hard down the stretch unless you have the “right characters” to use to take on some of the quests and events. The game does offer characters during these event or game updates to feature new mechanics that are to be used, which is like blatant advertising to want to acquire them to have an edge. So to some degree you kind of need to pay-to-win which is kinda bogus since it’s not like this game offer anything rewarding for finishing. Besides those two issues Terra Battle is a fun game that is worth the time and love spent into delving into the lore and world building of the game. It should stand out as a solid addition to the many games that you will come across in the iOs store and you’ll never want to put it down once you start playing.

The only mobile game worth your time

I’ve been a fan and follower of Mistwalker’s games ever since Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. Sakaguchi’s foray into the mobile market has proven a success. Terra Battle is an excellent tactical RPG that’s kept me playing for a very long time. They’ve provided endless support for the game over the past 3.5 years with constant new updates and events to take part in. In addition to to providing you with an amazing story, the combat is extremely satisfying, the reward system is very well done, and both the art work and music are top notch. It also offers achievements, co-op and vs. mode to engage with other players. The only gaping issue that some may have with it is the fact that 90% of the in-game activities are on a schedule. Luckily, there are plenty of fan sites dedicated to providing you with alerts to know when it’s time to power level/SB a character or enter a hunting zone to farm for mats. Of all the mobile games I’ve ever played, Terra Battle is the only one I’ve found myself satisfied with and invested in. A must have!

Fantastic

I’ve always been a console gamer. Every once in a while I’ll see a mobile game that looks interesting, but I really just don’t like playing games on a touch screen and most mobile game I end up disliking. They usually just feel weak and like micro transaction money-grabbers. But this one, they nailed it. I love strategy RPGs and the mechanics of this are fantastic with a cool and interesting story, great music (apparently Chrono Trigger/Cross’ Yasunori Mitsuda even does a piece). I hope Mistwalker will return to console games at some point, but what they’ve accomplished on mobile with Terra Battle is heartening.
