Normandy is my personal favorite. I keep going back. Rebels and Redcoats is a close 2nd. Well done, guys.

Early maps are incredibly long and overly complicated - as well as extremely difficult on the hard level. After that, they balance out. Had hex war done any beta testing at all, they would have realized they are scaring off future buyers with maps that take almost an hour to complete, and even then are almost impossible to win. The final map, "fortified," is apparently an Easter egg: it is mathematically impossible to win this on the hard level. Had they included it as a "bonus challenge" or something, that would have been ok, but to treat it as an actual map is insulting - people waste their time not realizing this is a joke. Hence the one star.

The HexWar Ltd. games are a great deal of fun to play... There are several issues to mention that take away from the game and result in a lower rating... Hits from "the enemy" are a lot more damaging than the hits scored against them... Air support is not historically accurate... In the Normandy series, the German army did not have air support... The allies had plenty of air support... Of course that only matters to history buffs... All in all... Very enjoyable...

The sweep, breadth and historicity of this game blew me away. Massive, realistic beach attacks give you a feel for grand strategy - from landing craft to defenses to varieties of troops and weapons. Impressive.

I have played all of hexwar's ww II simulation tank games. This was very buggy when it first came out, but I am not having trouble with all of the crashes etc any more. I enjoy the increased variety of units and challenges in this game over the older games

Numerous bugs and errors in unit values. Once corrected game plays well but scenarios lack imagination. Panzer General and Allied General although old windows 95 games have better playability.

Unless you win a battle, you cannot play the next one. So if one is too hard, then you can never play any others. Why lock the scenarios? Let people play what they paid for.

A very enjoyable series of games and I would buy them again. However, the total lack of Allies air support, especially during the landing scenarios is both ahistorical and makes it really tough. Also, the inability to reconfigure organizations, such as putting engineers up front, makes it difficult to employ them. Lastly, as others have commented, I this entire series of games, from Ancient times on, there is no way to skip to another scenario if you cannot win a previous one. I have a dozen scenarios spread across multiple games that I paid for but cannot play.
