Great sounds but way too long to respond to key touch

Magnifico

Simply THE best digital synth for iPhone...newly added randomizer feature is inspiring.

Evolve

RUST(i)K

Everything this developer does is generally ahead of the pack. This latest update has put this app in the best of iOS synths of all time. Anyone can muddy sounds with Granular and add reverb- this app evolves the sounds in ways that please the ears and a retro Future GUI make it a charmer! Well done look for next app.

I love this app.

AltGrendel

Lots of fun to play with. Very flexible with access to just about any parameter. Still working with it and having a great time.

DEEP

BozoToo

Dude! This Ap is totally deeeeep. Like most of Mr. Vasiliev’s applications, this one is very deep. It is difficult to compare it to anything else. It approaces the art and science of sound synthesis in a way that simply does not compare to many others. It is essentially a sample-based instrument, with 3 “oscilators”, each with 3 layers where each layer is a separate sample. Each layer can have a separate sample/waveform. And because the layers are all sample based, they can produce any sound you can capture or create. Moreover, each sample can be highly mutilated using the kind of bit-shifting that is similar to all of Mr. Vasiliev’s ther aps (SoundScaper and FieldScaper). LFOs and ADSRs are abundant (6 of each per ocillator, a total of 18 LFOs and ADSRs). Capturing samples is as easy as it gets using AudioShare. Audio quality is excellent and SynthScaper responds quickly to commands, making it performable, though getting down to the nitty-gritty of sound manipulation will not be easy in a live situation. There are many performance-related features: a manually controllable spatial interface places each “Oscilator” in its own location - left/right and front/rear. The keyboard can be mapped to many scales and you can create your own variations. Vertical and horizontal movement on the on-screen keyboard can be used to control various parameters. The arpegiators are a marvel. There are 3 separate arpegiators - one for each Oscilator. They can function like a conventional arpegiator but, consistent with the depth of the rest of the Ap, they can also function as a highly interactive sequencers as well! The Downside: There is nothing inherently bad or wrong here. But this is not an easy synthesizer to master. The interface is rather unconventional and learning it does not come easy. But that is the price you pay when you go to the depth that this Ap goes. You just have to be willing to go to the woodshed with this one. But that is time well spent and the rewards are well worth the effort. Some things that would make this GREAT synthesizer even better: I would like to see the spatial controler come under “voltage control” - LFO or sequencer or perhaps a recorder that will retain manual movement performed on the screen. SynthScaper integrates well with AudioBus and InterAp Audio. But making it available as a an Audio Unit would also open it up to the expanding range of AU controllers, such as the Rozeta Suite or the many AU sequencers now on the market. Finally, if there was a way to make the interface easier that would be good. But I cannot imagine how that could be done, given the ambitious depth to which this synthesizer goes... Bottom Line: If you want to go deep into sound creation and do things that are beyond the norm, this is your Ap. I cannot give it 6 Stars; but I would if I could!

Easy to lose track of time while playing with this.

More Potential Than I Know What To Do With!

Cave J.

Pros: - Layers upon layers of user control - A room full of analog/digital audio tech in your hand - Developers still update and improve app - Multiple feasible applications - Relatively cheap for capabilities Cons: - Harsh learning curve - User can’t create own UI color palette If you are serious about making music, sound effects, or audio based environments, this app is one of the best things you can get without spending a ton of money limiting yourself to a desktop and a room full of analog machines. The amount of freedom this app gives the user is amazing for a mobile format. If you are an audio engineer, music maker, or just someone trying to burn some free time, please try this app out and give the developers some love.

Archaic

El Gennaro

It's an obtuse , archaic sample player. It's powerful if you want to take the time deal with It's idiosyncratic design. I tried and then didn't.

So good I came back to write another review!

Total control, So much so that some “players” cannot wrap their minds around all the features. But for those musicians that like EASE of use. This app has you covered with pages of presets that will rival any synth that Korg, Moog, or Wolfgang Palm has made. If you are a little leery but want MORE than the presets offer, that’s when the beauty of this app shines. It lies in the RAND (randomize) features at the top left of the start up screen. One tap of this option and you FLOORED. It randomizes EVERY PARAMETER, OSC, EFFECT, SOUND ENVELOPE and MOD MATRIX in the app. The outcome will of course very from one to another because they are RANDOM. A fresh and new preset waiting to be saved each time. I’m the type of musician that will adjust my guitar tone for hours, getting that perfect sound. I never could understand players who wants to JUST plug in and play. But if you are a REAL musician (then you already tweek knobs for hours) if love the IDEA behind each interesting sound. If You find yourself LOST for hours in building a preset then you will LOVE this app. *** To the user who said that the design was idiotic, and complicated... Thank God not all synths are built for amateurs, or we would have NEVER SEEN the advent of the Modular synth. If you want a synth that can create sound scapes for movies ? bring emotion to your scenes, I imagine that you will fall in love with this app. If you want a synth for REAL music application. Then this is it and THEN SOME. There are some Out-of-the-Box lead Presets that scream louder than my Fender, and crunchy guitars that make my Les Paul Jealous. There are presets that put the Korg Wavestation to shame. There are a wide range of complex presets that come with this amazing app. If you are ONLY into apps like Poison, FM Player, MiniSynth 2 or Synthmaster Player, that are easily controlled in ONE SCREEN, then by ALL MEANS buy this app and use the EASY TO USE RANDOMIZER (Rand) that will create some of the most LUSH PADS, SCREAMING LEADS, BOTTOM OUT BASSES, that are interesting and NEVER BORING. You can control EVERYTHING with simple touch screen sliders that are unique to Synthscaper, right from the start up screen. But, if you are like me and love to get into the weeds, this app also offers screen after screen of options, that can be overwhelming for some. But its laid out with the user in mind, so after a few times of using that app, it ALL makes sense. The signal flow is perfect. The touch is silky and response time is spot on (I’m using an iPad Pro) I wrote this review in hopes that someone who is looking for a synth that can create lush cinematic sound. A synth that has its own unique life, that brings interesting textures and solidifies chorus’, bridges and harmonies and brings complex and interesting layers in an otherwise dull or over-done song. Trust me, this app will inspire, and to the musician who needs that extra UMPH, you just found it. Rock on my friend- Rock on! ~Scott S.
