The sound engine of SynthScaper has its own unique sounding differ from any other software synths. You can construct outstanding melodic pads or atonal soundscapes from different kind of built-in or downloaded samples by using all power of multi-layered oscillators, chains of filters and effects, envelope generators and low frequency oscillators. Or you can create your own sound scenes combining oscillators presets from build-in library. Or just use predefined scenes.
Very flexible settings of each module give you a great opportunity for creating unique and colorful sounding from usual instruments or natural samples and adding automated changes and spatial effects for an endless variations. Different ways of assigning screen and MIDI keyboards to the oscillators provide very advanced features to control the sound. The on-screen keyboard is adapted to create special effects and varying the continuous textures and drones.
The Designer tool uses the neural network to generates new presets based on already existing by adding some random variations and checking the result so that the new preset remains similar to the selected pattern.

Amazing !!!

This is a great app. It has all the great options to manipulate sounds used by its elder sisters (or brothers;) apps, such as FieldScaper and Soundscaper. On top of all these, here you have a keyboard- like active surface, which is actually like seaboard type of 3 dimensional sound sculpture ! Simply amazing !!! I'm doing both pop music, but also home recordist brutal experimentalist drenching sound baths ;) nothing you can't do with scraper series - and currently Synthscaper...I'm not soliciting, but there are so many apps that cost similar amount of bucks, but give you times less stuff compared to this one ...try it, you won't regret it !!! I have FieldScaper which is a blast but since I saw the trailer for this app I was drooling and let me tell you this app is AMAZING!!!! Get it now. You won't regret it. This guy has a blessed mind to come out with a keyboard like this. Thank you thank you. The other apps that have captured my attention as this one are animoog and geoshred. 6 stars!!!
Complex sounds

This is the kind of app I've been waiting for for the iPad for a long time...one that can do really dense, complex soundscapes. It does have a bit of a learning curve, but ample documentation is provided. One thing to take note: most of the included sounds are pretty dark/suspenseful. I hope that a future update will have some lighter sounds and textures for more relaxing/chill kinds of drones, because I'm sure it will excel at those kinds of sounds, too.

SynthScaper continues the trend of amazing and unique apps from Igor Vasiliev. I'm a huge fan of SoundScaper and FieldScaper, and this newest app is just as good. Very deep and powerful. This will need plenty of exploration on my part.

One of the best synths on the App Store. The sound quality is on the level of Animoog or Roli. I wish the keyboard could be extended, for performance, like the Animoog can; but this one responds better (and better than Roli too). I'm loving making my own. Not just an app but an adventure! Would be nice to have Ableton Link ...
Incredible and inspiring

I have all the iOS synths that are worth talking about. Rarely do I review them, as I simply abscond with them into my nerd-hole once they've been discovered. This one is special. Texturally rich and very intuitive, you'll probably spend hours just fiddling before you use it in a track. Happy droning!

As a kid I used to love playing with synthesizers at the local electronics store; that all changed when they got a Nintendo. Fast forward a few decades... Bought this app on a whim after reading a review at Engadget and checking out some Youtube clips... as a visual artist I haven't spent much time at all on music, but Synthscaper looked like a fun way to make strange soundscapes to pair with my visuals. Two weeks later and I'm still addicted! Having no previous musical or audio training, I've been constantly amazed at the sounds I can create with this fantastic app. Igor Vasiliev has done a great job of providing sample soundscapes to pick apart, so I've been able to figure out most of the functions. He's also uploaded a few helpful videos since the initial release, and I've been using those to unlock more features. Synthscaper's equally well implemented on both iPad and iPhone; the interface is surprisingly suited to the iPhone dimensions although I can't seem to split the keyboard there as I can on the iPad. Really inspired, planning to look into Igor's other apps as well.
