We’ve tried many different meal kits and sun basket is by far the best. Great selection for any food preferences. The variety of cuisines is remarkable and the booklets with recipes include cultural and historical backgrounds. We’ve been able to make food from around the world, learn and never repeat a meal. Spoiled food, bad customer service

I used Sun Basket a year or so ago and had good experiences but something has changed since then. At least half the ingredients in the last 2 boxes I have purchased from Sun Basket have been spoiled—rancid chicken (when I paid extra for organic), moldy tomatoes two boxes in a row, slimy spinach two times, slimes green needs, wilted cilantro, missing preserved lemons, diseased radishes. I would not feed this food to my dog. And when I have contacted customer service they have been incredibly stingy about compensation for the missing or spoiled items. I was not able to make one single meal of the 6 in the last two boxes without purchasing replacement ingredients, yet they would offer to give me like a $20 credit toward my next box (meaning I have to give them $60 in order to be refunded for something I paid for and didn’t receive!) or free shipping on my next box and I had to really escalate multiple levels up to get anything resembling fair compensation—the first of the two baskets in a row they did eventually refund me for and the second of the two spoiled baskets all I got was $20 back (eventually they agreed to refund the $20 instead of credit toward the next box at least), even though I got zero usable meals out of the kit and purchased way more than $20 of additional ingredients to try and salvage they ingredients that were edible. Sun Basket is more expensive than other meal delivery services I’ve used so I would expect better quality and better service but they basically just send compost. I have a strong stomach and will eat almost anything and I really did give them a try but I actually want to throw up when I think of the meals they have sent me. On top of all of that, one of the boxes I ordered said it had been delivered but never arrived. I sat around waiting for it to arrive with no other dinner plan and when I contacted customer service they said it would be delivered the next day. I asked if that meant the food would be a day less fresh and would have been sitting out an extra day and they basically confirmed this and refused to do anything about it. When it arrived the box was on its side even though it was clearly labeled “this side up”, the ice packs were no longer cold, and the food was spoiled. It took so much tooth pulling to get anything resembling a fair response from them for this. Try Blue Apron or Hello Fresh or Dinnerly or Every Plate instead.

Let’s start with the food. I’ve had 9 meals and they have all been great! The quality is excellent and the variety is awesome. What I don’t understand is why you can’t order 3 servings???? I can get 2 and my child can’t eat. Or I can get 4, pay double and eat leftovers by so I’m not wasting it. I just want to order 3 servings. The other downside is that you can’t get a delivery on Monday??? What’s up with that? Please make a 3 serving option for smaller families.

Organic, creative and delicious

We love Sun Basket! We've been ordering 3-4 meals a week for almost a year now and couldn't be happier with this service. We chose Sun Basket because they offer organic ingredients, and none of the other services we explored do. But we've also been thrilled with the huge variety of really creative, delicious meals inspired from cuisine all over the globe, the easy to follow instructions, the convenience of the phone app, and the bonus content and recipes in each week's booklet. We've learned a lot about cooking, have tried things we never otherwise would have, and have enjoyed cooking together regularly. It's also been a huge time saver -- no more deciding what to cook, making shopping lists, and having to grocery shop during our busy work week -- or getting stuck with too much of something that just ends up going bad. There are only two of us, so the portions are perfect. And we're getting a great balance of nutrients & veggies in every meal. We're big meat eaters but have also been trying a lot of the vegetarian options and loving them. There have been a handful of occasions when an ingredient was either missing or past its prime, but they've always been responsive and fast to issue us a generous credit to cover its replacement and make up for the inconvenience. Highly recommend.

Late deliveries and ridiculously small portions

They only deliver mon-wed. Deliveries on mondays arrive after 8:00pm, and in the California heat, aren’t even cold. And the portion size is so small. Really disappointed. Customer service is non existent!

Decent App Terrible Service

Title sums it up. UI is ok but UX is poor. Very bad customer service. Unless you buy in volume, it’s too much packaging - eco friendly or not it still takes energy to produce and ship. You’re paying for the packing and the magazine that comes with it.
