A great people focused email app

niatish

Love the priority vs other granularity for notifications. I have been opposed to using email as chat; preferring tools like slack/messages to fill those gaps. This is the first tool to make me reconsider - it makes email feel like texting by removing the extraneous bits and making quick replies. I have many apps for communications based on the person of the context - and now for people who use email to quickly communicate I have an app for that too. This isn’t a replacement for my email app anymore than slack is a replacement for texting. Normally I turn off all email notifications and process my inbox on an alter schedule - but by using Spike I can now quickly reply to those people who see email more as chat.. in the same way I use wechat, line, Facebook messenger, etc. for those who prefer chat on this platforms. Given the chat like features such as read stays, grouping attachment in the same bubble - is really is just one more chat app for the people who prefer email.

They're On To Something!

I really like this app and I want them to succeed! What's great about it: * It's what Slack thinks it is (but isn't) * Removing all of the extraneous quotes of quotes of quotes for each reply is genius! You just see the messages, like a conversation, in order. Filter by people and you only see the conversation with that one person. It's great! * Starting from a person, and seeing one view of all your interactions with that person, is fantastic! Indexed email is better than email search. * It's a small thing but I love that the icon in calendar view for the "go to today" button rotates to the left when you go back in time, and rotates to the right when you go forward in time. Nice attention to detail! * (If you are one of that small group of users that was sorry to see Google Wave go away, I think you'll like Spike.) What's still needed: * The ability to share the text of any email or conversation to the iOS share sheet, so I can create to do items, or send them to Bear to start writing a proposal, or anything that I need to do with them. * Ability to respond to calendar requests inline. Add one of these and it gets 4 stars. Add both of these and it's 5 stars.

Great app except for 1 big issue!

Bummer monies

Really enjoy using this app! Everything in one app is great! Issue I keep having though is trying to set up my hotmail account does absolutely nothing. It just sits and won’t indicate it’s been added. Tried numerous times with zero luck. Emailed the admins but still have yet to get an answer or fix. Would be five stars if this was not an issue.

Best Email App Ever

I have been waiting for this app to be released for quite some time and there is nothing like it.

Great

It’s excellent so far! Took a while to learn everything. Only thing is, it’s completely ignoring my setting to mute/ignore notifications on one email account. I get all notifications for everything, which is annoying- with Inbox it would only alert me of actual people emailing me. I have ‘mute notifications’ on but it...doesn’t do that.

The best email app I’ve ever used

Simply the best But I’ve some little recommendations: 1 - Calendar is not perfect: it needs day, week and month view. See all other calendar apps, its some kind of standard nowadays. 2- It would be great if we could select what tabs to appear, I want only conversations and calendar to be available. And one big request: It would be great if we could add telegram accounts in the app too. Imagine all emails and telegram conversations could live together in one place.

People focused email

Spike is a quietly robust email client. It's quick, well laid out, and has many great features (Dark mode!). With a little tweaking you can customize the look and functionality. I love how fast it is, that it's easy to see all emails from a given contact, and the in-app browser. Spike's Priority inbox puts email into two categories: 1) from people you know, 2) "other" inbox for every other source (newsletter, ad, notification, etc.). This helps cut through the clutter to quickly see the conversations that are more relevant to you. It also turns each email into a threaded conversation (like iMessage), so you can see the ongoing conversations/history rather than just one email by itself. You can also easily unsubscribe from newsletters. Other good features: The lightweight calendar to view upcoming events, a "People" tab to jump to emails from frequenly contacted people, and a very good search to find specific emails and recently received files. There's also the ability to snooze messages to deal with later (note that the "...More" pop-up also contains options to pin message, move to priority, and mute notifications). The in-app browser lets you quickly jump to links in an email without leaving the app. File attachment support is also good, though attaching multiple files from Dropbox etc. needs improvement. Other small features like quick translate, per sender notifications, read receipts, printing, and ability to move messages to a folder are unique and useful. Overall one of the best email apps on iOS. Wish list: -Could use a way to quickly add a calendar event from a date mentioned in an email. -Print to PDF would be useful. -Why must it truncate long newsletter messages? (Workaround: tap on the message to open in its own window). -Attaching files from cloud services like Dropbox is possible, but if you want to add multiple files you have to navigate to the desired folder and file each time, duplicating effort and taking more time than necessary. -Schedule sending emails would be great, and would match the new Gmail app.
