I just downloaded it and listened to some scriptures. This is great! Very clear and easy follow through! A big thanks to whoever developed this app!

Audible or Speechify?

I spent hours comparing text to speech apps, and by far, Speechify has some of the best premium HD voices. I even considered dropping Audible, so that I could pay for an unlimited amount of HD voice listening time; however, while the HD voices are great, they’re not reliable enough for me to consider them as a replacement for Audible just yet. At times, they’re slow to load or glitchy. I wasted a good 200 or so words listening to Gwyneth lisp her way through sentences as if she was lapsing into a different language. I fiddled with her speech rate trying to remedy the problem, but it was to no avail. I had to switch to Michael. Michael read through everything perfectly, but he too had trouble staying on task. Even though I had plenty of of HD listening words left, he would intermittently cut out and be replaced by the British Male speaking voice. With all things considered, this is an app worthy of downloading. It does a respectable job transferring words from pictures—better than most. Sometimes, to my astonishment, it can read my handwriting. It hasn’t crashed, and apart from the HD voices, the standard voices seem quite reliable. I like that I can earn HD words the more I listen, and that there’s enough to stay entertained with in the free version. With a bit more perfecting, Audible might find itself facing the boot in favor of this nifty little app. For now, Audible is safe from the chopping block.

I truly love this app, once I figured out how to connect the webpage I wanted to have translated fr text to audio for me. I discovered the feature where you can copy a link from any website or article and just click the + circle on app & can simply paste it right into the extremely easy to see box, and wham! ??After a few seconds of it down loading into the app program you can simply click on the easily visible item , close your eyes, & play & listen to it instead. I especially like it because I love to read but when I get tired it’s nice just to be able to hear it read to you. Thanks a lot for a brilliant idea and the creation of this app.

I have ADHD so I can't really retain what I read. In HS a teacher noticed my problem and suggested I read notes, chapters etc into a tape recorder and play it back several times. I've done that my whole life for things I needed to learn, passed my real estate exam and others tests for certification. Then 6 yrs ago I had Cancer, chemo brain is no joke it's seriously affected my memory, ability to retain info and cognitive skills. Lastly in August I got Covid, it hit me so hard I seriously thought I was gonna die. Luckily it didn't but I'm now dealing with long Covid. I noticed my brain was even more fogged but I didn't know why. I had no idea Covid also affects your cognitive skills. So with all that being said, this app is a GOD SEND to me. I no longer have to record everything to play it back. I'm so thankful it's a free app too because my budget is very tight. I feel such a relief thanks to the developers of this app.

Great tool! But free version is very restricted.

Pros: Self-publishing gurus recommend reading your manuscript aloud to catch typos. This app will read it to you for free. The sound is decent quality, articulate, and you can set the speed. Some words are mispronounced but not many, and sadly I don't remember which ones. But I used this to help edit my first book (Becoming A Smarter Mom), and caught many typos with it. Other things I’ve used it for: Researching Pubmed - for personal health issues, plus my 93-yr-old mom’s dementia & diabetes Blog posts - Caregiver ideas, crypto currency, family relationship builders Original docs - daily Ziglar affirmations, Bible verses to memorize, free PDFs of entrepreneur coaching books (ThriveTime) Cons: 2 minutes and 40 seconds. That’s how long the recently-updated app “reads” at 1.1 speed before prompting users to upgrade at $139.99/year for more time or faster reading. Sadly I cannot justify this expense for personal use, especially because my business dreams are tabled for now. That said, if I were looking for a business tool to increase productivity, Speechify premium is a no-brainer. Idea for developers: offer a certain number of words/minutes per month with the previously-free features (speed & non-stop listening). As a dementia-patient caregiver, the new limits make the app nearly worthless. Why? My hands are usually engaged in home/patient duties (washing dishes, cleaning incontinence accidents, laundry, scratch cooking, arranging meds/supplements, ad naseum). Stopping every 2:40 to reset the app isn’t doable. Thanks for the good times. And may your work continue to be found and supported. XOXO
