Failure to release wanted emails
HJG Review

Does a good job of blocking spam but now when I get a email that I mark as regular mail the app does not release it to my email account. Because of this I will be forced to cancel the subscription. I have no way to get this resolved because I have no way to contact anyone about this problem. In past years the app worked perfectly and now it does not. HG

Not so good
JOHN'S IFON

I use the trial of this app and out of 173 spam emails I got it caught 18 doesn’t seem like a good deal to me?

Does the job
Steves_64

I’ve tried several apps that state they will block spam from emails. So far , all have failed until I found SpamDrain. It has blocked 90% of spam so far. If one sneaks through, you just click on it and state it’s spam and it never finds your inbox again. So far it’s all positive. If anything changes, I will update.

A 5-star Catch 22
S231B

I have a deep appreciation of the very big difference SpamDrain makes to my inbox. I value it and I've tested it with the Catch 22 option. A couple of years ago I figured I'd just not renew and was surprised at the results so I restarted my account. My frustration is partly linked to being an Apple system user with the Apple generated password and therein lies the Catch 22. When I renewed this year, my filtering was interrupted for about 5 days because it apparently triggered the need for a new password. The system of customer support is the Catch 22. First, finding out how to contact them was difficult, second their written support files didn't really help me and thirdly the automated Zendesk response systems is annoying and unhelpful. I wish they had a 'get to a real person' option for Apple users available. After all those days and three automated responses from them when I'd already done everything else I managed to figure out what I was doing wrong. This is the key: It was what I was doing wrong! But I think for $19+ annually somebody should care to write a document for Apple users and particularly provide step by step instructions. The snafu for me was there was a line under the filtered email address with only the word "unchanged" which I interpreted to refer to my email which hadn't changed not my password which was no longer recognized. By the time I finally figured that out, I'd changed my apple generated password four times and was very frustrated. My only complaint is how easy it would have been for someone 'live' to respond to my pleas rather than repeated automated responses before I was exasperated. I know they have an amazing Spamster system but I want an amazing personal customer support too.

Don’t bother

Over-automated yet unable to keep up with iOS changes. Much of their editing is nonfunctional, once the account is set up don’t ever change a password or the whole thing fails.

Outstanding
Rocky1215

I’ve had this app on my iPad Pro for almost three years. It took about 6 months for the app to “learn” what I wanted to block. After that accuracy has been over 90%. Correcting errors is fast and easy. No complaints here

Mostly Great, but not with Bellsouth / Yahoo Mail
Torquer367

I can give this app 4 stars because, of the 4 email accounts it monitors, it does a 99.9% job of filtering 3 of them. Secondly the interface is great, and their billing is straightforward and easy to understand. Unfortunately, My bellsouth.net email isn’t handled better than 50% successfully. SpamDrain attributes this to delays between when they can see the item and when it gets to my inbox, and suggests delaying the fetch interval, to give them more time. That mostly has little good effect on filtering, but does have a serious downside in that the delay sometimes make 2-factor authentication impossible. Your app Login says it sends an email, and you wait forever for it to arrive so you can get the authentication code. Sometimes your app times out while you wait. All of that said, I’ve tried some competitors, and they’re not better, and mostly not as good, so I’m staying with SpamDrain. But please, please, can we fix this? This after all is your main business.

Inefficient and lack of response when troubleshooting. Don’t waste your money.

Recent issue settled quickly
Carecooks

I have been using SpamDrain for 8 years. While every once in a while a piece of Spam makes it through or a a valid email gets held up, most of the time I go through my life without spam in my inbox. Then yesterday morning I noticed a lot of Spam. I panicked, thinking the spammers had now figured out a way to get through. Then I realized that SD had stopped filtering. I contacted them and while they did send me an FAQ list of possible solutions, they also contacted me by email. They had reset my filter and all was back to normal. Glitches happen but I was delighted by their prompt service.
