Simple and Accurate

Charred Taco

This app was fairly simple to get setup and accurate to the second on announcing all phases of the eclipse. Got many positive comments by people around me on how helpful the announcements were. Worth every penny. Looking forward to improvements and using this in 2024.

Thank you!

I got this because of Destin's video, planned a 6 hour drive to SC to view the eclipse in totality for a little over 2 minutes. It was amazing! We are planning our trip for 2024 already!

Worked perfectly.

Well done. I drove from northern Michigan to see the eclipse. This app was spot on and I was the only in the area that had it. Well worth the $2. I put it on a Bluetooth speaker and it worked great. I'm will be using for the next one.

Outstanding App

Marshaspiano

Having used this app for the August 21st Eclipse I have to say that it was great, it's timing was spot own and the voice feedback through my bluetooth speaker was a great help in my photographing and viewing the eclipse. I could not recommend it any higher, if you are planning to see a solar eclipse this is most assuredly a must have!

This. Was. Perfection!

This app couldn't have been better. I am so so so glad I bought it. It was true to the claims-- timing of audio cues was spot on, app was easy to use, instructions were clear. Everyone around me was impressed. It especially helped because I was supervising elementary school age kids and it was obvious that the cues were safely guiding us through the phases of the eclipse. Awesome!!! Thank you for making this app. For the one in 2024, will we just update this app or will it be a separate one?

Worthless

Didn't work

Works, but...

So, it was good at finding my location and accurately displaying the times of the different eclipse events for the Great American Eclipse. And once first contact began, it reliably sent notifications to my iPhone 6...up until three minutes before totality. After that, it never sent another notification. It didn't tell me when to remove my eclipse glasses or put them back on, or when to look for the diamond ring or Bailey's Beads. It also never gave me an audible countdown to totality. A few minutes after totality ended, I hit the stop button since it wasn't sending any more notifications anyway. So I was overall disappointed. Was I supposed to leave my phone unlocked and the app running in the foreground after 3min until second contact? My cousin was also using this app on her Galaxy S8 Android phone and it did the exact same thing as mine. We were both let down by it. *UPDATE: In response to the developer's statement below, no I wasn't using the iPhone's camera or any other apps during the eclipse. This app was always running in the foreground except while the phone was locked, so I don't understand why the notifications didn't come through. Also, I corrected my initial review to say that I was using this app on an iPhone 6, not 7. I was actually using my 7 to take pictures, and used the 6 exclusively to run this app. Sorry for any confusion. *UPDATE #2: Maybe it was just user error (meaning me). Once the 3-minutes-till-totality notification occurred, I checked the app and then manually locked my screen to save battery life, thinking there would be more notifications telling me to check the app as totality neared. My guess is that my cousin made the same mistake with her Android phone. Apparently we should have left our phones unlocked from that moment on, in order to hear the audio cues. I hope we remember to do that for the next total eclipse in seven years! Thanks for the helpful info, "Developer". I have changed my rating since it was my fault, not the app's. Still, I think I must have missed the fine print somewhere explaining to me how to correctly use the app near the totality phase. *UPDATE #3: Thank you to the developer for all your helpful insight into my issue. It was indeed my fault for locking my iPhone too close to second contact. It would be very helpful if close to totality, your app would give users a heads-up to leave their phones unlocked surrounding the total phase of the eclipse. Thanks again for taking the time to listen to me & for troubleshooting my problem.

Awesome and well done!

This app performed wonderfully during totality for the 8/21/2017 eclipse. We traveled to Metropolis, IL for this event. As an amateur astronomer for decades I was determined to use 1/2 of totality to image and the remaining 1/2 to enjoy with my naked eyes. I had practiced my plans along with the wonderful demo the program offers. While I had backup plans in case the app wasn't accurate at the actual eclipse, I was pleasantly surprised when first contact was announced perfectly on time. The audible cues are amazing. With a 10-second countdown to totality I rest assured that the app was working fine and I could focus on the eclipse. There's also a 10-second countdown to the maximum eclipse which was the cue I needed to stop taking images, replace my solar filter on my telescope and enjoy the remaining totality with my wife. Can't wait til 2024!

Disappointed

I'm not in the path of totality, but the app never said a single thing and wouldn't update the front page with maximum or anything. Edit: okay, I did miss the first paragraph, but I don't understand why the app couldn't still dictate about the parts of the eclipse that were experienced, even if not in the path of totality.

Helped with shadow bands

FWBII

Because of this app my wife, my daughter and I were able to see the shadow bands in Douglas Wyoming. Without it I'm absolutely certain I never would've experienced it. Can't wait until the one is released for 2024. I want to start scoping out potential viewing spots.
