What’s so “smart” about this app?

Love the layout, but I need more control over content. I am so sick of some of topics that I’ve turned off notifications. Not to mention, I don’t consider celebrity news to be “breaking” unless they die. Please add: - ability to ignore content based on key words - ability to program notifications based on key words - local content - it would be brilliant if someone could find a solution to following specific news stories and receiving a notification when there is an update

Generally like the App, but the Ads are gonna kill it for me

Twice in the last 3 days I’ve accidentally hit an ad and been unable to get out of the ad back to the smart news app. Had to delete the app from my iPad and reinstall to get rid of the ad. This seems to be a recent problem. The ads are getting more and more obnoxious and pervasive. This latest problem is about the last straw. If it happens one more time, I’m done - the app gets permanently deleted.

half of the stories are click bait. Just read the headlines if you miss your daily local/national news and you will know what’s going on. Handy if you want to be up to date and don’t have a lot of time because you only have to read article headlines to understand what is happening today. Frequently updated and stories are covered by multiple sources so you needn’t do more than read headlines. Update/response to developer: This is pretty much throughout the app. Don’t get me wrong, I look at the app daily because I don’t have time to watch a 30 minute news segment, but the statements still stand.

Biased, left leaning

This is not impartial news. The main news that pops up is be partial to democrats and you have to search for opposing views and when I do, I’m not finding the important things, which just makes it more biased. To think I was actually hopeful for impartial news. Update, they claim its impartial. I still disagree. The stories are slanted and I’m not impressed. They said I’d have to look for “conservative news.” How about impartial news like you advertise?

Way too many ads cleverly displayed just like all the articles. The smart advertisers even title the ads to read as news. As a side annoyance, the app seems to think I am (or someone at SmartNews is) a huge New England Patriots fan and fills my feed with articles about them. Furthermore, after several emails to them about this, I’ve never had a reply. Hmm?

It’s not all news

Too many ads disguised as news articles. Too many are personal attacks rather than news reporting. A lot less bias and more news would be nice. Also, stop repeating the same articles over and over.

Hey if you're into Trump bashing. The politics tab is heaven for you. If you wanted actual takes from both sides of the aisle as their ads suggest, best to look elsewhere.

If you are going to brand yourself as a Smart News source that eliminates #FakeNews then you shouldn’t fill your sources with a balance of the so called ‘left’ and ‘right’ news sources in order to appear balanced to your readers. INSTEAD, have some balls and call out Fake News for what it is and prevent a single news article from MSNBC, CNN, VOX, HUFFPOST, etc. Who came up with this app? Nancy Pelosi?? Stop being a politician and admit your just a left leaning reposter like the rest of them.

You lost me. Thought this was a news app. Lose the sensationalist sites and I might consider downloading again. For now, your very ad is ‘fake news’. You are a part of the problem.
