Good go database, AI good for beginners

ET333

Have had consistent professional game updates the last few years. They have a massive database built up. Computer AI is great to learn with if you are new to go, maybe 10k on 13x13 with max wait. Also has tons of review problems. Overall I'm happy with the value for the price.

Best go on iOS

I tried all the other games and none of them come close. Most aren't in English this supports English as well as just about every other language the iOS supports.? I really did my research for this app it costs 20$ which is very expensive. It works great on the iPhone as well but it looses points for the annotated games are difficult to read only on the iPhone. There is a pseudo demo on windows that's available on the developer's website. It's very similar to this version. This game not only teaches you how to play go but challenges you to get better. Through a leveling up system which I love it, even though I have lost more games I feel like I am learning from my mistakes. The only other go game that I had for a years and it's the only app that even comes close is aya go. that app doesn't teach you go like this. It's like learning a martial art in a strip mall, this app is like going to Japanese dojo where martial arts originated. There is another option called: smart go pro. It is the step down from this and it's not available on the iPad and this app glows on the iPad. Multiplayer is a bit of a mystery I'm not sure it has it but you can email games to other people I assume the other person has to have this app. But I'm still a little new and I really intend to play the computer and solve problems. I also looked to see if this app has ever had a price reduction and it hasn't so don't wait to buy this. But it is updated about every month.

Great app

If you are serious about Go, want to learn, or want to teach others, this app is worth every penny. There are a few minor glitches, but overall it is amazing. The learning experience, recorded games, puzzles, and tutorials make the price even more justifiable. In the end though, if the price scares you off, try the SmartGo Player version. The two times I have had questions or issues, the developer emailed me within a day giving me a solution or an idea when the next patch would be released to fix an issue. Good support is well worth it.

In my past, I was an absolutely horrid player, I tried to play with friends at the fabled "Last Exit" coffeehouse in Seattle in the early to mid 1970's. I have always loved the game, I've just never been any good at it! I love this app because I can watch ancient games from master, such as Honimbo and others, see patterns that form, how games progress and much more! Still a real crappy player but I really love this application!

Wonderful!

Excellent -- worth the 20 bucks.

While I'm only a club level player (5k), I've begun taking the game more seriously. Since I play on KGS, I typically use cgoban3 to review my SGF games locally, make edits, etc. Since KGS doesn't have an iPhone app, I have been using my IGS/Pandanet account. I wanted a way to review these games on my phone, and this was the literally the only app available in AppStore that offered this functionality. I decided to take a chance and spend the $20. I'm not at all disappointed; clearly a lot of work went into this app, and it does everything I hoped as well as having some extras that are nice..... such as tsumego, annotated games, and an impressive library of pro games. If you play go seriously -- or even casually, but with the hope of getting better -- this is an awesome study tool for your mobile device. The ONLY thing I wish it had is a score estimator. It guesses territory, but not score. Still, it's a great app, and in English rather than Japanese. Thanks guys.

Beautifully designed
