“If I could only keep one app on my iPod, this would be it without a doubt. Skritter will change your life!”
― Wendy Werneth, UN Translator

“Learning to write characters has never been so fun. From writing zero to 2000+ characters in six months!”
― Brian Jackson, Economist

“An absolutely amazing app. While it’s gorgeous (never had this much fun using an iPhone until now), it also makes me want to actually study whenever I have downtime.”
― Greg Bell, Master’s Student

“It has completely changed how I study. You won't find me cooped up inside anymore. You'll find me at the wetlands surrounding the city, using my iPod to Skritter and chatting with the people strolling on the path. Or I'll be at the local dumpling joint, the owner's kids grabbing my iPod to play with the app and "teach" me how to write correctly.”
― Alex Louis, Volunteer

Hate this app

It is useless!!

Can we write kana? (Probably more)
Anony3751957

The app is indeed phenomenal, but I feel like there is something missing. I feel like you should put kana as in letting us write it. I am also concerned about the pronunciation. There are combination that don’t include a pronunciation. For example: 十 makes the sound ジュウ。Yet it can't be pronounced. And also, the syncing. The syncing is very irritating! The further you progress to the app the more frequent the syncing is! (This will go with the Chinese app with the pronunciation and the syncing)

Great App

This is a great app and I feel like I would learn a lot if I could afford to subscribe! $15 is just too expensive, sadly. Wish there were more subscription options.

Skritter

I've been waiting for this app so I can use Skritter offline, and it lives up to my expectations! It's awesome, if you're learning Japanese you need this! It's even good without a subscription if you want to maintain what you know.

Free...for the first 3/4 kanji. :-(
Ed Burke ( England)

This is one smokin' hot app! Lots of fun. I was surprised, however, that after about only THREE (3) kanji--note that I didn't write 333 or even 33--the kanji learner is told that it's time to pony up some big yen, dinero, moohlah...to the tune of ONLY $15/month to go any further. Bottom line? If you're serious about learning kanji and vocabulary, then I guess $180/year might be worth it. (**Try to be totally at ease with hiragana and katakana before you begin!) But heck, if you're already dishing out $51,000/year for tuition, room, and board at Famous Liberal Arts College in New England, what's an extra $180? You probably pay that for iTunes and beer every WEEK. Just don't be shocked, don't choke on your chai frappuccino blended crème, when the "free" thingy ends after about four minutes the first time you crank up this otherwise excellent app.

Great app!!!

I am learning tons of kanji daily with RTK and this app. Highly recommend!

Awesome!

Great app... It's free to explore it and use a smallish number of characters early on, then there is a very modest fee. Worth every penny!

Best app ever
Bahahajwiwhavwk

It's helped me get my kanji down perfectly ????

Wonderful
GaiasLastLaugh

Yes, it's pricey, which is initially what kept me from using it. But I finally ponied up and subscribed, and was glad I did. The writing detection algorithm is fantastic, allowing for little errors and deviations while detecting big mistakes. I've managed to obtain a far more solid knowledge of kanji after practicing for just a month. Bottom line is, the cost is worth all the work that the Skritter team continues to pour into the development of this app. Well done!

The best!!!

If you really try and follow what the slides ask then you will really learn a lot in what I consider is a short amount of time. Genius invention
