dear school districts: please stop using this joke of a platform

Hi, I’m a student. Before you click off this review, there’s a reason why students are protesting the use of this app, it’s really not what you think. The reason a lot of students on platforms like TikTok were trying to get similar apps like google classroom off the app store was because they didn’t want to do assignments — incredibly immature and somewhat ruining our future motives with a situation like this. There are features on other basic assignment platforms, even blackboard (which a lot of students hated as well, but this does not compare because this is just unusable), which is submission preview on the simplest of formats, and general errors on the teacher’s end that just don’t make the slightest bit of sense. Countless times I turned in the wrong screenshot or pdf because there was no pre-submission view. If your assignment was late and you turn in the wrong file, you’re completely out of luck because you can’t even make small edits for a resubmission. at my school we often heard teachers speaking of several 3 hour long seminars on how to use their platform. In fact, if you look up schoology tutorial on youtube or google, you’ll find an hour-long video covering “the basics” posted by the developers themselves. One of my teachers had us make a gif of one of our designs for engineering, attaching it to a google doc with drawing screenshots, pretty simple right? When you turn in a google doc on schoology, it automatically converts it into a microsoft word file. Not only does this not make sense because of their “revolutionary” embedding tools that makes google docs and websites in a frustrating aspect ratio, so you just open the doc in a new tab anyways. that’s a tangent for another day, but with the gifs, the embedding tool didn’t allow him to see that they were actually gifs and not just still images. So, in order to view the gifs to see if our mechanism worked or not, he’d have to individually download every single submission from 100+ students for what was meant to be a skill building activity worth less than 5 points. the support team doesn’t exist, the developer team doesn’t know what U.I. stands for (User Interface — you learn something new every day… on google classroom), much less what user feedback is, because looking through these reviews, you’ll see they have A LOT of user feedback, they clearly just don’t care about making a usable product after somehow getting sold to school districts. (that parent assignment view excuse isn’t even real, if your district has a grading system outside schoology like SIS, it’s literally pointless. Also, logging in for students is enough of a pain… i can’t imagine parents thinking that it’s worth going through that. Moral of the story: We don’t want this app gone because we don’t want to do school. We’re giving this 1 star because it’s genuinely terrible software with a developer team that couldn’t care less about the usability of their product after getting a contract signed. A high schooler with 2 years in web design could make something better.
Keeps logging me out

I’ve had to download this app 20 times because it keeps logging me out and when I try to log back in it doesn’t have my school making me have to reinstall the app

this app is difficult to navigate and crashes frequently, causing my work to turn in late and my grade is affected, the notifications don’t work, getting in contact with teachers through it is an absolute nightmare.
I would give this a zero but a one will have to do.

This app is very difficult to use from a student point of view. It is slow, it is hard to use and is so old it pre-ordered the Bible. When I first used it almost cried. There’s no dark mode, no user settings and annoyingly the calendar is shows almost nothing. Sometimes you it doesn’t turn your project in or just glitches you out of the app. I honestly want this to get banned as a war crime. This is about as pleasant as eating cheese through your nose. If Santa saw this he would say Ho Ho Oh No! Just use google classroom. I’m serious it’s a trillion times better. Plus it’s free. Ngl bro I would rather use a Nokia. Man gotta update this it looks like 1950 nasa computers bro fix this.
