Cool game, annoying glitch

Rwby Fan 96

I’ve been wanting to play this game for awhile but I can’t get past the tutorial. The game glitches out, right when I get to the school grounds to fight. Someone please fix this.

While I love this game and play it avidly it’s quite annoying when you’re a level 8 and get matched against a level 11. When this happens you get obliterated, you don’t stand a chance as their cards severely out level yours. When you hit arena 9 prepare for sweaty tactics and higher level players caving your skull in. Other than that and the White Fang gunner barracks which need to be nerfed its a great game. Roosterteeth fix your game.

Great game

Great game always had fun with it but after a patch my game did not let me play cards and I have tried the support given by it has not done anything

A fantastic game that is a MUST for any RWBY fan, with a couple flaws that hurt the experience.

RWBY Amity Arena isn’t an original concept, let’s jump over that hurdle right away. I’m unaware if “Clash Royale” did this genre first but I will assume, for this review that is, that they did. Amity Arena is a wonderful RTSTD game with several new features that, at this moment, any other of its kind lacks or isn’t as well executed. Yet it’s not without flaws. Positives first though, so here’s a few! 1. Drop Abilities and passives Certain units having Drop Abilities and passives are a great way to turn the tables on a losing battle or a tough start to a match with bad RNG. Placing your units in pairs and groups to Protect one specific very powerful one is now FAR less black and white due to these abilities which allows higher cost units to be dropped alone on one tower, while a group of 2 lower cost ones can be placed to target the other. Rather than Clash Royales rather forced playstyle of “Send squishy guy to protect big guy” every time. Which prevents repeated play from getting boring as there’s always an opportunity to try new combinations. 2. A Single-player PVE adventure mode. “Battle of Beacon” is a surprisingly entertaining side mode that puts you in direct control of a selection from a rather small list of units in the game. Each with their own abilities and stats to stand out from each other. However, despite its strong change of pace from normal play. It's repetitive level design does keep it from being very fun for long, so it’s best to be left on the side until you need a bit of a break from the PVP portion or if you’re waiting for that one last key to recharge. 3. A SURPRISINGLY large amount of customization. You have - Player Icons - Banners - Unit skins - Tower Skins - In-game Home Screen themes - Emotes And - Kingdom selection 4. A much more strict Matchmaking system. This one starts that gray area between positive and negative. This stricter matchmaking means your less likely to get matched with someone an Arena or two above you, but that increase in strictness CAN lead to longer wait times for a game that usually only takes 2-3 minutes. And now the negatives. There’s a few so get comfy. 1. The PVE is fun, but mostly pointless, atleast early on. Although it’s very interesting to see such a difference in gameplay and can keep you occupied for a bit, There’s no solid reward for completing the levels. Other than a crate/ Lien, which you can just earn by playing the main game anyways, but as this is side content it’s to be expected. 2. The good units are GOOD and the bad ones are BAD. And it shows. If your opponent has better units than you, it shows. I was lucky and managed to get a unit of a character I liked early on. Me thinking “oh hey that’s cool.” Only to go check replays of higher ranked players and seeing nearly every player using that same unit. I’m sure players of this game are aware of that specific unit as they read this and understand why it’s rather frustrating. This isn’t bad on its own, balance is important and rarer units obviously should be very powerful as a reward to those who get them, but what it promotes is... 3. A vast majority of micro-transactions and IGC’s (In Game Currencies) Didn’t get a unit you wanted? Need more cards to upgrade that one unit that isn’t *quite* strong enough? Wana unlock that cool costume for your favorite character? Well you’ll either need luck, a lot of time to spare, or ***M O N E Y***. Not only are there several measures in place to stagnate and limit the games grindability, Such as: -Limiting victory rewards - Only giving items on a Victory (Not as harsh, but will still slow you down) - Scarcely giving out the games main currency, required to upgrade units. Rarer units can take much more to level up even from level 1, so this can be a real hassle - And A 2.5 hour cooldown period for ONE key which you NEED to open the victory crates after every win. Sure you can watch an ad to restore one (Sometimes) but I’ve often found the ads break and don’t actually work? “Oh that’s easy to fix” you say, high and mighty. “I’ll just keep playing and stockpile my crates!” Wrong sir. No keys to spend? No crates. There’s no way to save crates or hold off on opening them, no key, and the crate gets thrown out. But ontop of that, the game heavily encourages buying the micro-transactions . (as most free games do, but this is a review.) Constant shoving offers in your face after every Arena rank up. Not to mention there is *3* premium currencies. Although one can be exchanged for the main currency, the one mentioned earlier that you need to upgrade units, the other two are given out very scarcely and in small amounts. And the things that use them are often very expensive, further increasing that incentive to buy them. If you have a couple extra dollars lying around to blow this may not seem so bad, but I wanted to review this game fairly. All-in-all Amity Arena, Despite it’s flaws and “Freemium”-Style habits, is a fun take on a very interesting genre of games, and a MUST for any RWBY fan

Like the show it’s based on, it used to be good.

Lightning Nerd

This game used to be fun. The combat was engaging and it was challenging without being overwhelming. However, with every new “balance change” update, the gap between you and the people it matches you with becomes bigger, until Level 10, 3200 trophy players like myself are being matched against Level 13 players with over 7000 trophies. Honestly, if they’d just fix the matchmaking or nerf some of the overpowered, pay-to-get units, it might be fun again. As of now, it’s pay-to-win, unbalanced and unfair.

Yup

muirdris

It’s fun not much else needed

Could be better

RedImpulse

The game could easily be five stars. But the variety of units offered in each frequent update cannot be enjoyed because swarming is so overpowered that virtually every opponent will stack their deck with mass deathstalkers, mass Lancers, white fang barracks. The game Should be ***** but it is becoming tedious due to the saMe repetitive strategies. Also there is still no 2v2 mode? No Guild wars? You can do better

Decent game but terrible match making.

Buckchap

Very decent game, unfortunately the match making is horrible. I’ve been pitted against players that are two levels above me,Rating more than 200 higher than me, a whole arena level above me, and/or has a card from later arenas that doesn’t even let me get them yet, but for some reason they have that card. For example “Launcher Nora” is only obtainable in Arena 8, BUT I’ve been in Trophy 1000-1500s or Arena 2-4 games where players already have it. Another is me getting matched against players from Arena 9 as an Arena 8, who by the way are at least have 100-200 ratings difference and two levels higher than me, not only once, not twice, but three times IN A ROW.I haven't even reached Arena 9. It could’ve been a fun game but good god, how do you justify something like an unobtainable card from a later part of the game to be used in the early parts of the game or even making an unbalanced matchmaking system where both parties suffer. Its frustrating to see and experience it every time I play, or try to at least.
