So I looked up your the server and up address, And it does not come up as Rubica. It comes up as a different company that store data. Ummmm, Yikes! I wanted to be invisible not tracked. Could you please get back to me about this. Thanks!

Major flaws

Firstly, to force customers to buy the cat in the bag without a trial period of at least a week is not a good sign as it prioritizes greed over - how ironic - establishing a trust relationship. I did it anyway (and instantly turned back off the monthly subscription), and received two “Malware Blocked on 100.80.25.16” messages shortly thereafter, with no further details - I thought that providing threat/attack details was supposed to be a key strength/differentiator of this software..? Then I checked with a long series of subsequent on/off Speedtest checks and found that everytime my 200 Mbps Xfinity connectivity (with zero package loss) here in Seattle shrinks to a speed of anywhere between 20-50 Mbps (with 1-2% package loss) via a provider “GTT”, apparently on the E coast. I expected a slight speed drop, but this is way to much of a connection quality loss. So at the moment I’m not impressed at all by this service - one star, plus one for a benefit of the doubt. I’ll be happy to adjust my rating if I observe any changes for the better (or even worse).

I use my mobile device for everything and don’t like the idea of my ISP snooping on my Internet activity. Rubica not only helps protect my connection and the prying eyes of my ISP but also helps protect me against phishing and malware. What’s not to like? Minus one star because speed and latency can use some improvements.

Awareness is important

Once you see where your data is going and how it’s being used to track you, you’ll be more mindful on using this app. I’d didn’t think it would do anything but within a min it picked up ad trackers and started monitoring it. I’ll see how it works after a week but I like it already.

I’m an average technology user and I appreciate the Rubica App because it’s comforting to know that someone “ has my back” in this period of the unknown hacker. Thank you Rubica!
