The ergonomics (screen and keyboard layout) of RPN Calc. 48 were inspired by HP's outstanding 48-series calculator.
RPN Calc. 48 is made by the developer of tChess (the critically acclaimed iPhone chess game) and Learn Chess (the Apple Staff Favorite e-book).
I have missed having a “proper” calculator! I have used other ports of my 48gx into the iOS world and this one is the best so far. Others took great pains to duplicate it exactly. This one does what I need it to do and nothing more. Well done!
Love the RPN. Calculator has worked flawlessly. Better response than others I have tried. Excellent work. Thank you. Drew PE. Little Rock.
I recently switched to iOS and finding the right RPN calculator was important to me. I was happy to see the old 48 replicated! I used the real thing in highschool back in the late 80s and immediately was familiar with the layout. This app does everything I need from an RPN calculator.
This app looks and performs just like the classic 48! The only thing that I miss is the tactile feel of the key clicks on a real 48. Perhaps a little bump from the phone shaker might simulate that. This app provides the basic functionality of a 48, but not the advanced capabilities like matrix operations. Regardless, a well deserved 5 stars.
I find this app gets the job done for most calculations I need to perform on a day to day basis. The app supposedly has a 100 line stack but doesn’t allow you to recall anything from that stack other than swapping with the previous. It’d be nice to pull a previous calculation to use in an operation.
Best implementation of an RPN calculator I have found!
Works well with iOS 14 on iPhone 12. Draws inspiration from HP calculators in a good way, and includes some new additional features.
This is a fantastic calculator that is easy to use and takes me back to the days of my RPN HP calculator.
Awesome app for RPN users. This is not a true emulator, so many functions and keys are missing. This is, however, exactly what I wanted since I do not use a phone for heavy calculations. The basic day-to-day operands are here, as well as enough advanced functions for light field work. It is, in my opinion, an RPN equivalent of something between the IOS calculator and Windows calculator — clean, modern, intuitive, and plenty capable for a iPhone/iPad. My biggest gripe is that this app does not support landscape mode on iPads, which is evidently an oddball Apple issue. I look forward to a potential future update. Until then, this is easily the best RPN app I’ve found and is well worth it.
