FEATURES

Common and rarer rhythms from 2 to 9 beats per bar (2/2, 4/2, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 7/4, 6/8, 7/8, 9/8).

Plays the rhythm with metronome sound and visible beats. Dynamics emphasize downbeats and note groups. You tap to follow the rhythm, with accuracy displayed immediately. Easily adjust metronome tempo by sliding or keypad.

Practice mode: listen or tap along while the rhythm is played. Accuracy is instantly displayed visually (color and position).

Test mode: you hear the metronome and must read and tap the rhythm. An accuracy score is then displayed.

Beginners can train themselves. Professionals use it now to extend their skills.

Gamelike play with immediate accuracy feedback and scores recorded.

More than 200 fixed exercises; the more difficult ones include rests, ties, syncopations, duplets, triplets, quadruplets and swing eighths (on iPad 100 longer exercises, because two iPhone exercises are combined into one to fit the larger screen).

Thousands of random exercises. Twenty levels of difficulty in 4/4 and 20 levels distributed among the other meters. A level for absolute beginners and a level to practice reading music that violates the imaginary barline rule.

A Modify exercise function. This mini-editor provides many options to tailor an exercise to your needs. It is designed to need very few taps.

Option to add swing to every quarter note meter exercise. Different degrees of swing: light, medium and hard.

Metronome with speed of 20 - 240 beats per minute and optional upbeat sound.

Very low latency (instant response).

Sounds of the player, metronome and taps can be chosen from several percussive instruments.

Automatic count-off.

Optional beat numbers in the staff and beat-counting voice function clarify the relationship between the rhythm and the beat.

Use of the microphone as an alternative to the tap button. Play the rhythm with hand claps, finger-snaps or an instrument.

Optional stereo sound. Hear your taps in the right ear and the metronome and player sounds in the left ear.

Progress reports for fixed and random exercises.

Mail your results: e.g. send your 100% score graphic or progress reports.

Left-handed tapping support.

Landscape support to display longer exercises (random).

Classical as well as iOS7+ flat design.

Universal app (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch).

EXTRA CHALLENGES

Expert mode: a higher default tempo for the exercises plus more accuracy required in tapping. This mode has its own set of best times per exercise, making the completion of the exercises a whole new challenge.

Ear training function to help in rhythmic dictation. Listen to the rhythm once or several times and write it down or tap it out to compare with the written rhythm.

Left- and right-hand independence: tap the beat with the left tap button and the rhythm with the right tap button or the reverse.

Endurance (continuous reading) and speeding-up tests.

Train yourself to hold tied notes and to play legato. Hear a longer note while holding the tap button.

I am a piano teacher and just found this app. All my students are loving it so far and enjoying going through the levels. Which is great because suddenly what used to be homework is now fun! Did you hear that? Fun! Would recommend this for anyone. The only thing I would suggest is the menu system maybe having a revamp as the first opening to to select “fixed levels” or “random levels”. I’d love to start at level 0 for some of my kids and I feel like sometimes it would be hard to explain to them how to get to the ‘random levels’ and would be easier. Overall 5/5 app for how amazing everything runs and even though I teach piano, this is a hard app at some of the higher levels! A must have app.

Everything you could want in a rhythm app

Wow I’m so grateful for this app. I have struggled with rhythm a lot in my musical journey — mostly when sight reading sheet music and trying to play with other musicians. I just never took the time to clap/count while playing and always learned rhythm by listening to recordings. This app helps you practice with various pre-made exercises and you can even create your own custom exercises. I used it to practice the rhythm of a Bossa Nova song I was working on. There are so many customizations that you can really practice in any way you want and get instant feedback on your accuracy. I haven’t explored all the settings yet. Best of all is there is no reoccurring subscription fee like most apps like this nowadays. Now is the user interface super slick and clean? No, but it’s intuitive enough that you find what you’re looking for pretty easily. A huge thank you to the developer! I’m finally learning how to count properly.

Exceptional

You can benefit from this trainer in a day, but you can work on it for years and still get dividends. Thoughtfully assembled. Endlessly varied. There are so many options for unique challenges, you can start the massive book a second or third time with a different focus, and benefit all over again. Frequently updated and improved. Once I had a glitch with a new phone, the developer found a way to fix my problem in a day. Love this app!

Love this!

Long time drummer working on my time. I have my iPad connected to a Yamaha DTX multi 12 with camera connection kit and it works great. I didn’t even have to dig into any settings, it just worked. This is an undiscovered gem. Thanks!

Best rhythm app I have come across
Melisseofficinale

Excellent app with many levels and settings so that it’s a great tool for beginners as well as advanced musicians. I recommend it to anyone wanting to better learn to read rhythm.

I’m a beginner and...

I’m just a beginner and this app has already helped me with sight reading rhythm. It’s pretty much exactly what I wanted for this kind of app. Besides that, the developer updated the app to fix an issue I was having, so I’d say it has great tech support!

Kudos to the developer!

This is a wonderful and well thought-out app. I love the options provided for customization, and it has really helped me up my sight reading ability. A joy to work with!

Wow
TaraBytes23

I have tried many music apps in all forms. I began teaching myself piano almost a year ago, though I learned the staff pretty quickly and the common knowledge of the keys, I have struggled with the rhythm and beat. This app is INCREDIBLE, after I post this, I am going to look for a donation spot. It will be the first time I have ever given money to developers, and my reviews on google have thousands, tens of thousands of reviews. This app has SO MANY features. It took me two days to realize there was such a large menu if you click the tiny i in the bottom left corner (iPad pro) and even without me knowing of all the other options it still held my attention and even became a personal mission to pass the rhythms. Its super hard, for me. Practice. Practice. Practice. The TAPPING option is insanely hard for me. Thats exciting though. Some thing I 100 percent can not do, yet.. so it gives me something to work on! Thanks y'all. You did a fantastic job on this app! Please update whenever you add something new! TYA Tara D. Super Fan!

Great App

This reminds me of Tap Master in college. Really challenges you to be accurate.

The Best Rhythm Trainer
Rob & Nay

I’m a professional musician and teacher and this is the best app I’ve seen for rhythm reading. It would honestly still be worth buying at 5 times the cost but it is a no brainer at the current price.
