Nice and Slick Utility

Will090

This is a cool little utility. There isn't much to this app but what it does, it does well. The recorder player and tape player work and look great. I personally prefer the tape recorder as it looks really cool on screen. Your artwork is the middle of the disc and the needle goes down as your song plays. If you want a little extra visual when listening to your music I recccomemd this

Not good..

Musicguy21

Theres no sound diferrences in any of these.. Of vinyl, tape, or 8 track. They sound the same.. Pretty bad.!

Fun little app

I like how the record actually comes out of the album cover and then sits on the turntable. Animations are pretty slick, and it's cool that it does a little "scratch" if you put your finger on the record. The tape player is more basic than the record player, but having the name of the song written on the label is a nice touch. Update - love the new 8-track, that's pretty funny :)

This is great!

I grew up with vinyl. There's nothing like watching the record spin on the turntable. A CD just isn't the same. This app is so much fun. I love it! Thank you for making it ;-)

Pretty cool

I looked at all the apps and this one looked like the best - can't complain too much for $1. It's nice how it shows the record slide out of the artwork onto the platter and the needle moves to show the position of the song - nice touch. Some suggestions that would make this even cooler... first, definately add in options for pops, noise and hum. Different effects with controllable volumes for each would be nice. Second, perhaps letting us touch and drag the needle to skip around to different parts of the track? Finally, better spinning animation would be nice. Now it looks like a static image that just rotates... really, the shine and highlights on the vinyl wouldn't spin around with it. Also, maybe an option to adjust the speed of the rotation? That's all I got for now... I definately look forward to any updates for this app as I think it could be great'

The best app since slice bread:)

I realy love this app! it's fun and it does what it's suppposed to do and for the price you can't go wrong. If you like the old school days this is the app for you:)

Please add option for track skipping in cassette modes.

DRW818

I understand that being able to conveniently skip to the next track is not entirely true to the cassette rewind/fast forward experience, but it would be nice if I had the option to turn such a feature on or off, so that the rewind/fast forward buttons could function as "skip track" buttons. All things considered, being able to skip tracks is one of the pleasant developments of the digital music era. Let's have that at the options screen. And another poster was correct, the reflections off the record would not spin with the record. Maybe just shimmy a little according to the warp of the album, but not actually spin... But I do like the spirit of the app. Very old school!

I agree with everyone else...

How about 45 rpm albums as well? I hope you continue to work on this app. It could be much better with a little tweaking. The bookbox is my least favorite. It would be nice if the led's were in sync with the music. Also, maybe animate the 8-track to pop it in and out? Fun app that takes you back to a different time.

The best of what

rdstreets

All I was looking for was a cool retro vinyl record player that incorporates some analog style noise to run my itunes music catalog thru. Most of the apps out there are DJ oriented (which is understandable just not for me). What this app does right is it gets some of the interaction and needle related sounds down, but could stand a lesson from Retroplayer so far as making the interface more elegant (old style record player with slicker user interface and design). The analog sound effects are better for Retroplayer as well (to my ears). However the latter will not pull music from your iTunes library (which is huge - you have to upload WAV files from your PC - which is too much to ask). The other interfaces (cassette, etc.) look like an afterthought to me. What good is modeling the 8 track or the ghetto box if there is no real or cool animation going on? I would lose them and keep focused on the vinyl and perhaps the cassette deck and offer some different model styles? My 2 Cents. Thanks!

Pretty cool for a buck

This app is purely for the fun at heart, with some limitations. The turntable player is cool. I like the fact the album artwork spins around mounted to the vinyl record, songs can be imported from iPod, and there is a variable crackle and hiss option in the menu. Wish you could have more options in the settings menu, and mabey a little more polish on the turntable animation of changing records, and authentic looking vinyl movment, control buttons and such.- but hey it's a buck and it does what it says, what more can you you ask for. I also like the optional 8-track, cassett, and boombox. These also could use a polish but this app just got started and I'm sure with time this developer won't let us down and maybe give an update now and then. Great start! Thanks for the fun.
