Where are the words?

This is my first review I really like this app, one other thing that hasn't been mentioned to improve this app is to add the song title some where. I bet know one thought of that one. Just remember that there are a lot of people with OCD out there!

Could be better

Funhouse70

It freezes when I press certain buttons on the phonograph & 8 track. The cassette, boom box, and 8 track could be jazzier. Let's see the tapes go in or something. Also it's annoying that the shine reflected on the LP spins with record. It should be stationary. The option to play 45s would be nice. As would the ability to skip songs.

Decent, but...

pleasantmr

It's a decent app, but it doesn't do the one thing I downloaded it for. I want to hear the record crackle. I've adjusted the slider back and forth to no results. I'm giving this app a three-star review because it's still nice to look at and the 8-Track Player, Cassette tape player and Boombox are all nice as well, however sometimes it gets stuck in between views which means I have half a record player on my left and half a tape player on my right. This is the third app I've downloaded (second I've paid for) that claimed to have record crackle and didn't. I give up.

Only...

Great App only does not have cd player butt that is cool with me because tomorrow i am getting cd player the app!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love it!

Went looking for a simulation of an old Tascam and Realistic brands reel to reel decks like the ones I owned in the 70's as a kid. Found this along the way. And I found this to be very cool indeed. Love the detail with the cassette hubs spinning. I use the iPad onstage and it looks so hip having the cassette tape visual spinning in the background. A reel to reel skin would be simply awesome!! Looks great on both the phone and the pad although suffers with the 2x grainys on the latter. Very nice though. Highly recommended eye candy.

Great app!

Listening to Steppenwolf and The Doors on the record player. Shows the album cover and has the scratch effect....very cool!

About the 8 Track Player

Apple Rocks Hard

Let me start by saying that I love the app, especially the 8 track player. RetroTunes is the only darn iPhone app on the store that features an 8 track player, and I absolutely love it! I like all the other features there, too, like the record player and the boom box. Unlike some, I have no problems getting the record crackle to work or scratching the disks, but I really want to talk about the 8 track player because it's my favorite feature right now. It needs more sound effects and better simulation. The tape decks, in general, need more sound effects because right now, all they do is click when you press buttons. I want to hear the noise of someone inserting or ejecting tapes, and when rewinding or fastforwarding, some good old tape whirring noises would be nice, if that's at all possible. Other than this, changing programs on the 8 track player could be better. As of now, pressing the program selector advances the user forward through songs like it should, but the number of programs is dependent on the number of songs in the playlist that's loaded from the iPod. I guess this is OK for convenience sake, but that's not the way a real 8 track player works. There are only four programs per tape, and each program has several songs. I'm not sure how the app could be made to create the four tape programs when switched to 8 track mode, but it would be cool if it could. Also, real 8 track players click when programs are changed automatically as well as manually, and if the 8 track in this app would do the same, the simulation would be more believable. Over all, RetroTunes is a wonderful app. The simulations are fairly realistic, although the tape decks obviously need more sound effects. To anyone who is looking for an iPhone app that simulates an 8 track player, RetroTunes is all you got, sadly, but it works well enough. Could be a little more believable, though. The app is accessible with VoiceOver, and even though the visual gimmics are pretty important, blind people, like myself, can really get a kick out of this app because of the sound effects and the way the players act when they are operated. To the developers, nice job on this neat, retro stereo, and thanks for giving me an 8 track player for my phone... sort of.

Get the same for free

Waste of $ You can get the same for free. Not enough of a true record sound either.

Okay

Crazy Dame

This app is okay, not what I thought it'd be. I was looking forward to lifting the record player arm and placing it any where on the record, but it's all visual and no interaction. I found it disappointing. Otherwise, it's interesting to look at.

Buy this App!!!

Fantastic job!! Love the detail in the cassette, turntable, boom box, and 8-track (if only it could fade out just before the solo on "stairway to heaven" and change tracks ;-). Seriously..Fantastic app!! For those looking for authentic record clicks/pops scroll all the way to the right (just past the boom box) and turn up the hiss volume on the dial. They even have it going just on the turntable! Brilliant !! Great job!!
