IBM is currently under contract with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to conduct independent studies of mail delivery performance, which measure how the USPS performs from the customer's point of view. The information our volunteers collect as part of these studies is used to help the USPS measure its success and to continually strive for better performance.
The purpose of this app is to provide our volunteer panelists with a mobile option for reporting for the mail study. Users will be able to report all of the necessary information such as delivery dates and mailpieces received, and use the camera on their iPhone or iPad to scan Intelligent Mail barcodes. It provides all of the reporting capabilities of the www.reportez.com web site without the need for an additional barcode scanner accessory.
I can scan for over a minute and nothing comes up. Just "processing……………….. Wasting my time!
Doesn't recognize barcodes and has ...processing... Stuck error message and doesn't allow me to complete my submissions.
3.5 stars. I'm so glad there is an app for this so I don't have to boot up my laptop everyday to scan and report. It crashed when I first gave it access to my camera but I reopened it and it worked fine. I don't think the app is very intuitive though. I figured it out but it took some time. When you click the blue scan button, you hold the red line over the barcode, then have to hit submit. It would make more sense if that said scan instead of submit - submit just sounds final and I thought I had to wait for the red line to do something. Then when you get back to the report screen after hitting submit, you have to click change report to scan more mail. Again, I was afraid this was going to clear my report or make me start over - it just didn't seem intuitive. Maybe have a button that says scan more mail or something. Anyway, I am so glad this is an app. Could use some tweaks and would be perfect!
Picks up maybe 1 in 4 mail pieces. So far I haven't been able to complete a single day's report. Big waste of time. The app is a great idea that I've been hoping for for ages, but it's very poorly executed. I hope the developer can fix it in a future iteration. Until then, I'll be deleting it. So sad and frustrating.
I would love this to work better. In addition to the finicky scanning the other reviewers have noted, there are issues with: switching from landscape to portrait and vice versa when scanning, input fields (i.e. number of mailpieces should default to numbers), and overall responsiveness. You owe it to your users to fix these.
Too slow for my patience. And doesn't always work. And needs a sound to indicate when an injury has been accepted.
As others mention, there are scanner issues. Also, when I finally got everything scanned I had to submit at least 7 times before it went through. And after all that it told me one of my mailpieces was invalid...even if all of them say VALID. I give up. Will try again if they update the app and work out the bugs.
Now I don't have to turn on my computer every night. It takes a lot less time to report mail. The scanner works fine for me. The phone vibrates when it accepts the scan. It'll still say processing but you can ignore that and go ahead and keep scanning mail, then when you tap submit it'll take you back to the other screen and all of your mail pieces will be visible there. No problems.
I have found that it works great on mail pieces that have a dark barcode, but things like catalogues or magazines where the bar code is lighter, it just says processing and doesn't scan. Definitely needs work!
