Not an App, but handy

dancermom08

This is like a condensed version of a book on how to teach your child to read. I think it is handy to assess where your child might have reading difficulties but it would be nice to be able to track progress or have built-in answer/questions. It is only .99 though.

Useful App

This is a unique reading app that's useful to have. I teach reading and have lots of books on assessment but it's definitely helpful to have word lists and quick assessments handy without having to go look for them. The app helps to pinpoint a reading problem quickly and I appreciate that everything's written out so simply. For $1 I don't think you can go wrong.

Good for Parents

I've recommended this app to the parents of my students. They've all thanked me. If all of the parents in my class had this app, they'd be in good shape to be able to support what I'm teaching in school.

Great App

I'm a parent of a first grader and this is useful to me in helping my son at home. We went through several of the assessments and I'm working through some of the suggested activities now. It was great to find all this information in one place in a way that's easy for me to understand.

The Perfect Prescription-Upgraded!

As a reading specialist, this app is like having shelves of assessment books and binders of "go to activities" in my pocket, at my fingertips! It's great for 1:1 diagnostic and progress monitoring with students. I really like the checkboxes that automatically add up the correct answers, the automatic alert in the fluency section and the features in the word attack section, especially for the upper elementary grades. The suggested activities are also wonderful to share with parents and some can also make great independent reading practice activities to use in the classroom.

Not Ready for Primetime - Not Worth $.99 YET

To be useful for a teacher, this app needs the capability to keep records on multiple students. To use this app for assessment, the print needs to have options for changing size, fonts, and colors. I want scores recorded in a format where all categories can be summarized and emailed to parents. This app is not ready for purchase. Offer this app for free and get more input on how to improve it.

Good idea, but needs much improvement if it is going to be a strong assessment piece. There is no way to show accountability. It would be more useful if you could just add the student's name to the assessment and then e-mail the assessment to yourself. As it is the information that you have gathered is lost which renders this assessment tool useless in the current atmosphere of documentation and accountability. Sorry no thumbs up here. Also the black background makes it very difficult to see and use. However, keep working on your app. We do need these kind of easily accessible tools to evaluate student learning and progress.

Too simple

There definitely were not a wide array of assessments in this app. There is one short test per grade level in a few specific areas of possible problems. The possibilities were extremely limited. No room for error. I have no idea why this got any great reviews.

Not useful for the .99 that was paid

Mom of a 1st grader

I thought there were going to be activities available under the activities section. This is only screenshots of info that you can get from the internet for free!!
