PWD - T2 INS DEPND

Great app for me. Type 2 on insulin for 4 years. Not on pump but using carb ratio formulas. This has worked well but had to play around with settings to get correct settings. Instructions not clear.

Great Help for Diabetics

Manny1890

I've been type I diabetic for over 30 years. Its a very well designed app, nice and easy to use and manages all the factors required to achieve excellent control of food and medication. Value for the price much higher than other competing apps. The bolus calculation is built to be used with flexibility, displaying all relevant(it even takes in consideration the amount of physical activity, alcohol and hypos) info associated with the suggested dose, and the selected by the user.Everything shown in a well displayed log, graph and statistics. Given the capabilities of the developers, I even have expectations for added value in versions to come. The last version adds useful elements to the original. However, I expected that the recorded entries could now be simply corrected, rather than having to delete and be redone completely. For future versions, perhaps the bolus calculation could include(in addition to the existing) an adjustment in the algorithm based on the recent boluses recorded-last five or 10?-, since as you know, diabetes is a "dynamic" condition, and the real boluses used completes the picture. Some nice features have been added in latests updates; however still lacking update of recorded entries and recording an event in advance. So, after all elapsed time with no action on this, I lower my qualification to 4 stars.

Alot like an insulin pump…...

sdgreenguy

I love this app, it gave me the information I needed to give up my insulin pump. I had major issues with insulin absorption due to scar tissue from the infusion sets. This great app uses similar algorithms to track things such as insulin on board. I use this app ALWAYS. The only thing it doesn’t do that a pump does is deliver the insulin (for that I use an insulin pen.) My only minor critique is the sliders used to enter BG and grams of carb are a bit awkward. I’d like to just type in that info. But that 1 thing doesn’t prevent me from giving it 5 stars.

Mom

This app has been tremendously helpful managing my daughters T1D. This app helps me think like a pump when my daughter refuses to wear a pump. Thank you for this fantastic tool! We use it all day long!

Just what the doctor ordered

Antonio Dominion

When my doctor suggested that I go off of my OmniPod insulin pump system, I was reticent to do so. I told him that the only way that I would consider going back to injections is if I had an EASY way of calculating insulin on board (IOB). [For those of you who don't know, IOB is the amount of insulin remaining after any injection or bolus.] This app is just like having pump calculator for injections – and more! It not only calculates your IOB, but also when you enter your carbs that you are eating, it gives you a recommended dose of insulin, based on your personal profile. The personal profile is the heart of this app. It is where you start by entering your insulin sensitivities by time of day periods. You can also customize the rate at which YOUR BODY USES INSULIN, so that the IOB is calculated specifically for YOU. I cannot say enough good things about this app, except to buy it now. Don't hesitate – your life is worth the purchase and then some.

Very impressive

I don't do many reviews on apps, but T1D's need to know about this one. I recently went off the pump due to frustrations of trying to manage all the settings to keep the pump dispensing properly. For me, the pump was a roller coaster ride. So, with the help of my endocrinologist I went back to manual injections. I found this app after searching for a way to calculate my bolts trends to stabilize my injection habits and quantities. I looked at a number of "solutions," then stumbled upon Rapid Calc. I am loving it. Within 24 hours of using it I'm more stable with regard to my BG numbers and am using less insulin. I absolutely love how it guides you through the initial settings, then does all the dosage calcs for you, while carefully breaking down the recommended bonus into meal correction, additional correction (if you're high), and insulin leftover from your last injection. Thank you for creating a great app! Well worth the amount paid.

Uh

This is by far the most confusing app I have ever seen. All I wanted was to enter blood sugar levels and see how much insulin is needed. Instead I have to go through pages of help and calculations which I thought the app was supposed to do.

Not so good

Conertyer

First carbs only go up to 200 if I'm having pizza I go past that, secondly remaining fast acting insulin still in my system ,?, I've never ever heard of this that doesn't mean it's not real I understand that but I've never had to factor this in and this app does so it will reduce your dose , that being said its caused high blood sugars for me now that I've realized that I've stopped using this app , and it would be nice if it had a section to look up foods and their carbs like some other apps like this.

The Essential Diabetes App

jpfob

Recommended by my diabetic educator and supported by my endocrinologist I started using this app has my diabetes type two became diabetes type one essentially. This has made my life much simpler and more accurate dosing has been obtained. I can't imagine why Apple would consider removing the app from the store and hope the company can get sponsored by an American hospital.

The perfect app for me

30yearsofDM1

The perfect app for me as a non-pumper is RapidCalc and I use it throughout daily- it has the same calculation capability of a pump (pre-sensor), meaning you input your i:c ratios with manually set changes through the day, you slide a bar to input BG, and it auto calculates the dose. Easy to adjust for activity level and has a nice display for your history. At any time you can get into the app and see how much iob (insulin on board) there is which is why I was looking for it to begin with and has saved my bacon a few times. It also has a nice graph for 7-30-90 days and you can email all your data. Beautifully designed app, exactly what I was looking for, can't recommend highly enough.
