No saving of game in progress

Mindspur

A fun time waster game, trying your best to maximize your score. Problem is, if you close the app in the middle of a game, all progress lost. Start over. Big fail in my book.

It's just okay

$?&@!

I love playing the actual game but disappointed with the app. It would be more fun to play against computer generated characters like the Magmic, Inc apps let you do!! I would also like to be able to re-arrange my dice to be able to see the pairs better!

Needs an undo button

The digital score pad needs an undo button. When you mark a number by mistake there is no way to undo the mistake. When you press the back button you lose all progress.

Great Score Pad - But, needs help!

We use this mainly for the digital score pad, because it's more fun to actually roll the dice. It works great, except it could use a few improvements. Firstly, an undo button is critical when you mistakenly click the wrong number. Secondly, there is no way to reflect that a color has been closed by another player. Those improvements would make this awesome!

Multiplayer & Scoring Bugs

Firstly, let me say that I adore the original version of this dice game. It is quick, fast-paced, and it packs neatly to bring with us when we travel. My wife and I ran out of scorecards and had to order more because we play the game so frequently! That said, there are a few things I found buggy when playing the app version. 1. The active player is allowed to select and score multiple color combos (i.e. White + Green, Blue + White) and mark many more that the two boxes during their turn. I played a test game and managed to mark 2 red, 2 blue, 2 green, and a yellow before my turn ended. 2. Once Player 1 has selected which combination to score, they have the option to match a white and a color to mark a second box off during their turn. I've found that sometimes, if Player 2 has made their selection, Player 1's turn is immediately ended, not allowing for a second combination selection to be made. 3. There doesn't seem to be a clear winner when two color rows are completed. The game just continues. I noticed the addition of the mode featuring pads with mixed up colors, as is done in the Deluxe Version. This mode looks like loads of fun, but without a proper replica of the original rules being programmed into the game, I can tell you that I'm going to be vigilant about not forgetting them when I travel in the future. There is quite a bit of potential here, but the rules need repaired before it will be half-as fun as the non-digital copy. $3.99 is a great price if the scoring system worked. I feel like I overpaid for something I'll not use unless the issues are resolved.

Buggy and poor play

ajrunr

Buggy in that you can often pick 3 or more numbers, and in that you can't pick the sequence of color then common without error consistently. Poor play in that this isn't the correct play methodology. It should force penalties on color non-choices. But that's not the case. Plus if you try and use a nine on a color and a common, it doesn't work. Good try, but this isn't functional yet.

Almost perfect

I love the dice/board game of Quixx. This mobile version plays almost the same, although it limits the number of rolls. So you can run out of rolls before you run out of moves. I can live with that. But there are some things that need to be addressed. First, and most frustrating, is that you cannot simply start another game with the same settings you just used. You have to tap out of the finished game, tap to start a new game, confirm how many players, confirm your name, and choose your board for every single game. This must be streamlined. The game should assume settings are the same unless you go to settings (which means you need to add a settings icon). The "ready" button should be a "play again" button that keeps all of your settings and starts a new game. Play is smooth and fast, and the electronic board looks and feels like the real thing. I do like playing, but I would play it more if it wasn't so cumbersome to start a new game. The other thing that would really add player enjoyment is being able to play against the computer. When you are playing a single game, you are not playing against the computer. You are just playing to try to get a good score. Having a computer opponent would be a lot more fun. Overall, I really like the game. With these changes, I would love it and recommend it without reservation. Thanks for putting this game out there for those of us who love Quixx.

Trying to save paper...

Kat in the house

We used the physical dice from the game and “greenly” thought to use the electronic version of the score pad. Dud dud dud... we would get mid way through the game and the app would stop working. We noticed it tended to happen around he time a first X for no score was taken... efforts to back out of the game and re-enter were met with a blank scorecard. Quite frustrating!

Okay

The app has great visuals and is simple to use. There are a couple of game breaking bugs though. For example, while using the Virtual Score Pad option you can’t undo a choice without losing your entire board and you can’t X out any number at all after clicking a pass (-5) box. The only way to continue is to back out - losing your entire board. Otherwise this app has a lot going for it. I hope development continues and the bugs are squished out. No new features need to be added - it’s already a great experience.

Good but...

The app currently miscontinues in solo mode. It will randomly decide you’ve used all available dice and not let you take a second score. It also assumes after 1 take sometimes that there are more when there are none available.
