Good for Beginners

I mean, the whole buy then buy again is pretty darn Lame so off two stars, but the fact that it doesn't keep track of your performance is stupid (off two more stars). How would you see what you need to improve.... What are the points for??!! And instead of a Sine Wave Test Tone, you guys should get real life examples of feedback. I don't know, maybe just One same recording with a 32 band provoked over a mic and speaker to simulate. That would be 32 samples, multiplied by however many intensities you want, let's say 3- easy, Hard, and expert. This is a great tool, but let's improve it for the sake of this awesome app. It would be a shame for this potential to stay the same. Great App for beginners thou :) (1 star) ?

Great app for learning to differentiate between various pitches. The basic version is a good start, but most people would want the "pro" add-on for the extra $$. With that, I like that they give you an example track of a female vocalist, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, etc. and you are expected to tell what frequencies have been adjusted with those tracks. It's easy to get tired of hearing the same example track over and over, but I guess you could load some samples into itunes and use those for identifying various frequencies (instead of just using songs by your favorite artists). The grading system is very simple to understand and the layout looks great and is easy to use. Very happy customer here - Thanks (also, works great on iOs 8.3 - iPhone 6).

Very limited features and quizzes...

Would give a 3.5

At first I didn't like this app, but then I dove into all the training games and changed my rating. The sine wave frequency training isn't the best, but what I found very useful is the eq section: three different levels for various instruments and a section for your own music! There's free stuff online out there, so the $7.99 is a bit much.

Not a $5 App...yet

This is a cool concept, and hopefully just a starting point, for what could be a great learning tool. The app is split into 3 quiz sections: tones, EQ, and gain. It's straight forward, and you get a score at the end of each quiz. The only suggestion I have about improving the tone section would be the addition of progress tracking; as the scores don't show a comparison to your prior performance. The other two types of quizzes (EQ and gain) are a little more complicated to work with. The concept is interesting, but it still needs a little work. You can play a song from your library, or choose from stock instrument recording (guitar, drums, bass) and the app will boost certain frequencies, or the gain by a certain amount. Your supposed to identify which frequency is being boosted, or how much gain is added, but there is no "clean"comparison track to reference. This makes it feel less like a controlled experiment and more like a guessing game. I'm sure some individuals with well trained ears could easily point out what mine can't, but then they would have no use for this app. If this is meant to guide untrained ears; a reference track is essential. To add to this feeling of playing the quizzes blind, the app has very limited and vague instructions, no tutorial, FAQ, or contact info. As for support; I found no way to get in touch with them on their website while navigating it on my phone. I could have checked out their full version on my laptop, but figured since this was an iOS app, I should stick to my phone. I hope the updates improve upon this, otherwise this is definitely not a $5 app yet.

Fantastic training app!

I've owned this app for a few years now. Always loved it. It has helped immensely with my frequency range identification for both instruments in mixing, as well as finding feedback frequencies while mixing for live sound. Phenomenal app, highly recommend it. I own the iOS and desktop version. Totally worth it.

Awesome Tool

I use this everyday in the morning, and it's improving both my speed and accuracy in my studio. Great stuff!
