Helps to know what's going on in the world

My most important app of all!

SteveARosa

I live in a region with a lot of dangerous faults. Therefore, I would Never be without this app! The app is perfect. There is an update you can purchase, but you don't need to in order for it to notify you of all of the worldly earthquakes and the magnitude, within seconds of the earthquake itself. You can, for a dollar and $.99 purchase an add-on so you can just classify one state or area for instance and choose between metric or English reading and unit measurements. I would pay $10 for this app if need be it is that good and that important to me! By no means are you forced or need this add-on. it's just nice and handy to have. once again I would pay almost anything just for the app itself. I highly recommend this APP... Get It!

I live on the seashore of northern California sitting directly on the faultline.... Need I say more! QuakeFeed is of immeasurable value and comfort to me. I have my valuables ready to go at any given time. I believe QuakeFeed keeps me on guard and informed. THANK YOU QUAKEFEED!

Great App for up to the minute Quake Activity

WhirlyCycle

This is still my go-to app for monitoring seismic activity around the world. I have been surprised at the number of seismic events so close to where I live, Austin, TX. There was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake near Pawnee, OK north of Oklahoma City on Sep 3, 2016 followed by numerous smaller aftershocks in the area over the next 48 hours.

I worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory fro 10 years. This reporting is every bit as reliable as it was there.

Interesting!

There's an xkcd comic that shows how far from an earthquake you would need to be before the internet can alert you to a quake in time to do anything about it. So keep that in mind. But if you're involved in disaster response, into geology, want to know when North Korea does more underground nuke testing, monitoring Oklahoma for side effects of fracking, watching for tsunami warnings, or maybe you just like to test out "did you feel the earth move when we kissed? Let's check for local seismic activity!" then this is a good app for you.
