Used to be great! Then Ads it broke

I loved this app. 3 things I think would make it great again. 1. Fix the glitch where if I pull it up, after having my phone closed that it doesn't crash the app and need to restart 2. Ads, I get it money is good, but please allow the user to adjust the speed or see the podcast they are listening to for 5 seconds before making the ad come back. Currently as soon as I take my finger off the speed eg. 1.8x it pulls it back up. Just makes me upset - with the ad and with you guys. Which shouldn't be happening. 3.Allow for more options with saving the Playlists (more than 10)/and 'Favorite' (otherwise I love the way that it saves the fact that it's a favorite, but doesn't require me to have the episode saved on my phone).

Simply thee best podcasting app I have ever used. Love how user friendly it is and the user interface is mind blowingly simple. Love everything about it. Love me some Castbox??

It’s overall great I’ve had no issues and it’s a Maher plus that I can download podcasts for free and it’s just great
Never auto downloads episodes in background

Now I remember why I stopped using this app a year ago. Every time I open Castbox, THEN it starts “auto” downloading episodes. Background app refresh is enabled so why doesn’t this app have episodes downloaded and ready to go every time I open the app?
There is hope...but needs improvements

I am unable to rewind 30 seconds via Bluetooth. I’m usually listening to podcasts in my car and sometimes I miss something or need to relisten to make sure I understood what I just heard. I try not to touch my phone while driving but sometimes I have to because of this issue. Other than that, I pay for the premium podcast player and am a fan. I have even recommended this app to friends and family. Please fix this bug! *****update 6/30 I was contacted by the developer and there will be a fix in the next update. I look forward to this fix! Best third party app, but not good enough

I want to like Castbox. I really do. It has pretty much all of the features I’d want, especially the ability to place episodes in the download queue to wait for WiFi, and the ability to search for specific episodes within a podcast. It’s the best of all the third party podcast players I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a lot. But at the end of the day, I don’t enjoy using the app, and I’m switching back to Apple. Here’s why: The UI is way too cluttered. I appreciate Apple’s clean layout and find it easier to navigate and look at. Zen mode only added to the problem. A cool idea in itself, but it should be moved away from the Library page to somewhere less intrusive. Speaking of Zen mode, it’s virtually useless to me as a stream-only feature. If I could download, I’d use it. The episode artwork for some podcasts is just nondescript, general photos of nature or whatever else. I have to tap on the episode to see what show it’s from and whether I want to download. Using the podcast’s main artwork instead would eliminate this problem for me. The app has crashed 3-4 times in the past week or so. I love Apple’s stations feature. No other player I’ve tried has it. Playlists are ok, but they require more manual sorting. The ability to automatically have new episodes from all my favorites in one list, downloaded and ready to go, is a huge plus for me. The ads on the now playing screen aren’t a big deal for me, but they do take away from the listening experience. Definitely better than having them take up static space on another page, but combined with the issues listed above, made me enjoy the app even less. I realize this review includes a lot of my personal preferences. Listening to podcasts can be a highly personal experience. I don’t envy the developer’s job in balancing these things. Castbox has a lot of great features, but I think the app would greatly benefit from design and stability improvements. I’d suggest taking a step back to focus on those things. In the meantime, I’ll keep Castbox on my phone and see what future updates may bring. Apple definitely isn’t perfect either, but I’d give it 4 stars. Can Castbox beat that?
Don’t ruin your app

My old, 5-star review was titled, “love it.” I moved over to Castbox from Stitcher about a year ago, and at first I really loved it...even when it was often buggy. Unfortunately, you’re now ruining the app by making it not a podcast player, but a “community engagement tool.” I’m sure the marketing department has said engagement is how to keep people in the app, but what it’s really doing is creating yet another space for trolling, fighting, meanness and all out hatred. NO ONE WANTS THIS ON A PODCAST PLAYER. You don’t need to be Facebook. Pushing “community”, by placing user comment pop-ups over the listener controls means I can’t even ignore what Angry Bill has to say about politics (on non-political shows even!). Stop this! You are part of the problem by trying to push this user engagement crap. It’s not about free speech or banning users or deleting comments or even giving users the ability to block people - YOU’RE A PODCAST PLAYER SO KEEP OUT OF THIS WHOLE ARENA AND JUST MAKE YOUR PLAYER THE BEST PLATFORM FOR LISTENING TO PODCASTS!

I was a diehard user of Overcast, and switched over to Castbox to try something new. And loved it! It was working great, and i even subscribed because i listen to way more than 100 podcasts. However, with this latest update, the app barely works! I’m so disappointed! It crashes constantly or freezes up as soon as i switch away from the app. Developers, i hope you can come up with a fix soon! I don’t want to have to leave my favorite app!
