Who was responsible for ruining this app?

jeffqu17

Sad, I used to love this app. However over the last year some “genius” designer absolutely destroyed it. That being said, nobody stopped them so it speaks volumes of the leadership. In its current state this app could be used as an example for ux designers on how to make mistakes in design. I dread having to to use anything in the app other than to hit play...at least they didn't screw that up. It hit me last night how much i hate using it and only continue to out of habit when i had to try and figure out where to set the sleep mode when I’m tired. Uninstalling and telling my tech buddies too.

Having issues with the app

RoSands

Used to work great now never syncs with my android and web apps. Please fix. Thanks

Just small issues

There are many instances of multiple versions of a podcast. So I could subscribe to two different versions of the exact same podcast. How is this even possible?

Used to be better

Always loved this app, it’s been my go-to, but lately, I feel like it’s been slow to upload new episodes. Have switched exclusively to Spotify.

Decent app

Sophiaew1997

This is the best podcast app I could find and the only one I use. The only thing that's stopping me from giving it five stars is the inability to organize podcasts very well. I would love if I could create folders instead of having them all in one big block.

Decent app

I listen to over 300 podcasts on this app and the organization is great. There’s a few things I wish it could do. When searching for podcasts it only shows a limited list of podcasts in each category and not all of them. Obscure podcasts can be very hard to find if you don’t remember the exact name of the podcast. It would be super helpful if the podcast itself could be archived and not only individual episodes. I keep podcasts I’ve finished because I’ll accidentally restart podcasts if I unsubscribe from them when I’m done. Being able archive a podcast would clean up my main page a lot!

Don’t allow background refresh

Pocket Casts app has worked well for a couple of years in two different phones, but is now problematic. Recently my iPhone XS Max battery has declined by 50% or so overnight. The offending app is Pocket Casts, accounting for 40% of battery usage. This is the largest user of battery power by a wide margin. Most of this battery use has been overnight, indicating that the background app refresh is the problem. I turned of background app refresh for this app, and the battery drain problem resolved. Don’t even think about allowing background app refresh for this app.

Gone bad

CmdrShepardsPie

This app used to be so good a couple of years ago. Since then they redesigned it making a lot of the things I do harder if not completely removed. On top of that, it frequently gets out of sync with the server, freezes for a period of time, skips audio, and downright crashes. They’ve basically ruined it.

A great app

5 stars because of the simplicity and stability.

Great except for CarPlay issues and no Apple Watch offline sync

kyleijazz

CarPlay has been super buggy since iOS 11 came out. Issues still haven’t been fixed in almost 2 years. But the iOS and Mac apps are great. Wish they had an offline sync mode like Overcast. Can’t wait for iOS 13 to see if they implement an Apple Watch streaming feature.
