Much better than iOS 11 app! Perfect podcast app

jo2jo

update 2: (April 2018)-I’m now over a year into Casts, it’s by far the best podcast app (it is a 100% perfect app, and i’ve never said that about any app). I’ve tried several paid podcast apps. One beautiful, amazing feature I just discovered recently: on my cheapo Bluetooth shower speaker (and Bluetooth audio in my car) when you Press the physical track forward/back buttons, Casts bumps your audio + or -15s (or whatever you have app set to)!!! this is amazing and exactly what I was looking for. I was always annoyed how other podcast apps (including the atrocious Apple built in one) would change the podcast playing whenever you hit forward/back track , which is totally pointless and useless. Casts handled this perfectly and does exactly what is logical and reasonable for physically pressing those buttons. Thanks again love this app. Update: I’ve been using podcasts app for a little over a month, and it is still absolutely flawless, it does exactly what I want , perfectly. Please do not waste any time with free apps or anything else, by this app if you listen to podcasts. Ditch the iOS trash built-in podcasts app. (Apple should be ashamed of themselves) Thank you, for writing a fast, clean, easy to use podcast app that properly works with apples built in podcast controls (Ie control center widget, lock screen, etc. on iOS 11). For some reason I foolishly thought that Apple only allowed it’s default/built in podcast app, to access Apple podcast content (ie the shows). So I never thought to find a third-party podcast. On iOS 10 I thought the Apple podcast app was a little awkward but worked fine for what I needed (accessing and the streaming the daily updated shows from podcasts I listen to, each day). iOS 11 podcast app was updated and is simply atrocious, and frankly is trash interface and usability wise. It is super difficult to navigate, near impossible to get to a shows latest episode (or even find out/confirm if the days episode has been published yet) and actions that required one or two taps on the ios10 podcast app, now require 3 to 6 space on the iOS 11 podcast app. It’s frankly trash in typical apple doesn’t listen to any feedback from users, simply search the web you’ll see many users of taking the time to write long and detailed posts about how horrible the podcast iOS 11 app is. Regardless of iOS 11 trash podcast app, that update led me to this app and I’m super happy with it! it was well worth the four dollars. Thanks!

Good not great.

A solid app. But I have some frustrations With it. In my opinion the ability to discover new podcasts is extremely poor on this app. 1. When checking out a new podcast, the app won't allow you to browse previous episodes without subscribing to that podcast. Why? 2. I'd like the ability to search for episodes as well. For instance, if I search for "Bill Burr", I'll see not just his own podcast, but but episodes of other podcasts that he's been on as well. 3. And how about a search feature! One of the podcasts I'm subscribed to has thousands of episodes. If I want to find a specific episode, I have to scroll though all the episodes and go solely off the episodes title.

I’ve worn this app out...

UrbanDude

According to the app stats I’ve used it to listen to 180 days of podcasts, so it deserves my first app review: It’s great. 180 days = half a year without sleep. I can’t think of another app/service that’s brought more joy to my life. It’s intuitive, unobtrusive, and works 100% of the time, every time. Nothing is perfect, but this is close.

Powerful

This is the slickest podcast player I’ve found. The app is organized a little differently from most, and managing the “up next” queue looked daunting at first. The flexibility of the app means some extra effort starting out. But it only took a couple of days to get the hang of it, and now I have things exactly the way I want them. Comes with a watch app too, which is useful.

Love the app but not a fan of the new update

SouthMcMerlin

I’ve had the app for a year and half now and I enjoy the heck out of it! How it looks, how it runs, the features, just everything! But in the new update I’m slightly bummed that in the previous version I could 3D Touch on iOS and mark as played from the app icon and now that has been removed and it has removed that simple yet greatly appreciated convenience. Please bring it back!!

It was great, now casting doesn’t work

GoodGuyJimmy

The only reason I got this app easy to cast the podcasts. Now that doesn’t work.

I LOVE Pocketcasts

Mill2124

That pretty much sums it up. This app is amazing. I was super pumped it was in the app store when I switched from Android. 2 e-props.

Doesn't work with iOS 10.3 beta 4

FutureDPT

I love the app, but the discover feature is weak. I literally open up the apple podcast app every now and then to see what new podcasts that I’ve never heard of are worth a listen because the discover feature is so lacking in this app.

Too many clicks to play

AJrajrajr321947281

The app is okay but it takes WAY to many clicks to play an episode and get to the screen where you can pause and fast forward. This is definitely not worth the money when you can get free apps that do the same thing.

Don’t get it

I don’t understand how the ratings are so high on this podcast. I bought it thinking it must offer something over overcast and I was wrong. It’s not user friendly at all. Personal opinion is it’s not better looking. It has some strange things like you can’t download episodes unless you subscribe. Its fails to download episodes and then you have to troubleshoot to listen. Don’t even get me started on the sync issues between devices. It’s just corky. Further more upsetting is I emailed the developers and no response after days. I could go up in rating but the lack of care from them is a major burn for me. Very disappointing. I really want to like this but, oh well.
