This is bad

This app is bad I don’t recommend it for people because these aren’t even the right notes I’m a fourth year cello and I could not even read the notes it’s like a different instrument!

Great even for adult learners

I am 46 years old, and this has been a very fun app to get started with. I re-learning how to play the cello on my own after 20 some years, and this has been a very encouraging way to get started. It has lots of supports like the visual string note placement, and lets you know which notes you missed. You can see your progress which is very encouraging and motivating. One glitch the app has is with the listing of songs. Sometimes it lists them in order of when you last played them, which is great, but sometimes it randomly goes back to alphabetical listing. And sometimes it doesn’t connect to audio to hear your playing, so you have to reboot the app. I bought the Megapack after playing around with the free songs for about a week or two, and that $5 purchase will probably last me the next year. Overall, this has really enhanced my learning experience. Is it pedagogically sound? Probably not - it makes you a little lazy with the key signature when all you have to do is look at the finger and string placement. But I’m not aiming to be a concert cellist - I just want to come home from work and tootle around on the instrument for fun. This app makes it fun!

This is awesome ???

The app couldn’t get its pitches right
TwistedZombo

I got this app to find songs to play and something to walk me through them but instead I got a app that couldn’t tell the difference between a G and a F. I am disappointed with this app I was hoping it would be better. If any of the workers read this try to get your notes right.

Best cello app

My son has improved so much on his cello lessons after I purchased this app

It's cool
Purplehairkid

I like it, it's cool and enjoyable. Obviously it can't take the place of a real teacher but it's nice to have when you want something extra.

Wrong notes
brookybob

I play the absolute correct notes and it says that i’m way off, I know I’m tuned, so that is not the problem, it’s this app.

Wut
Lola???

Although some people were saying that the problem was that it doesn’t pick up the notes. That wasn’t the problem. The songs are just bad and weird rhythms

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

Great app for learning some basics on the cello. I can play along kind of like guitar hero, except I'm learning as I play the game. It is pretty accurate as far a making me be on the right note (I pair it with a tuner to double check my accuracy). I only wish it had a larger variety of songs to choose from. Most seem to be Christmas music. I've looked around for other apps or computer games like this...this seems to be the only one, definitely the best cello app I have found.

Whoops

As a public school orchestra teacher I'm always looking for ways to keep my kiddos playing at home. I'm also a cellist and just tried this app. I found it frustrating to easily read and play the tunes because the rules of standard notation that we teach to young students are not being followed. For instance, there are no time signatures and in "Danny Boy", which is in D Major, the first note is a Db (should be C#), and the second note they want is D natural, but there is no natural sign. The idea is great, just wish I could recommend it.
