HOW TO PLAY:
Tune in to Dean's opening groove and tap the play button to set the stage. You can play some music with the notes to try the different instruments. Hit the start button when you are ready. The low note (or reference tone) played 3 times tunes your ears and then a target plays. Match the target notes, melodies, and harmonies by tapping and dragging your note choices into the target.
If it's a high score game you're after, start from the beginning and see how far you can go.
To practice just use the backstage menu screen to start a game on any level you've unlocked, and try to beat your top score for that level.
No matter where you start, the question is... can you reach the final challenge?
Pickup Tunes challenges you with four musical stages: the major triad (4 notes), the pentatonic scale (6 notes), the major scale (8 notes), and the full chromatic scale (13 notes).

I'm a beginner and I don't think I would ever really put the time in to learn ear training without this. I used to think that having an ear was just something you had or didn't have. Thanks to this, I'm actually developing an ear!

Upgraded from the free version and I've been playing for two days now. The levels starts simple but they get a lot harder. Harmony section is the hardest so far. Sometimes I'm wildly wrong. Also took me a bit to figure out that you have to press both notes at the same time. I'm new to ear training, but I'm definitely getting better and it's painless -- and fun.

While growing up I dreaded doing the 'ear work' necessary to be able to play an instrument properly so I didn't, and my skills suffered accordingly. I wish I had this app when I was a kid. Make ear training a game and I'll play it all day. That's what these guys did and the application rocks.

Our new favorite learning game! My kindergartener loves Pickup Tunes. He keeps returning to the game to give it another shot and improves his results each time. While he's having fun, I'm pleased he's getting ear training and working on listening skills and memory. My husband and I are enjoying the game, as well.

This game is fun, and you don't even realize you are training your ears while you play... The more you play, the better you do, and without even knowing it you learn the tone of notes... Very cool game/learning tool, a must for music students ...whether you want to hone your note skills or just have fun playing a "memory like" game this game is great.

The best app I have on my phone by far! My old high school music teacher told me about it and I couldn't be happier. The only feedback I can give for improvement would be to have the ability to turn off the sound when you make wrong notes, not that it's horrible, but I think sometimes it makes you forget where you are at tonally. Also there should be a way to make the root notes whatever amount you want instead of 3 C's in a row it would be nice to change it to 1, or 5 if given the option. Even with those it's a fantastic app and I will recommend it to as many people I know who play music. Great job!
