PENUMBEAR is a classic platformer with an emphasis on danger, exploration and puzzle solving. Each of the game’s 100 levels combine lights and blocks to create drastically different layouts for Penumbear to explore as he tries to find his way out of the dark castle.
He’ll explore the castle’s basement with it’s shadowy creatures and tentacles, before traveling to the grimy and spiky dungeon, the vast cavern, up the fireplace and through the tower to reach his freedom. Along the way he’ll encounter increasingly vicious monsters, fiendish puzzles, and gigantic bosses determined to stop his progress.
Hundreds of fellow bears are hidden through the castle and it’s up to Penumbear to save them all. Secrets are in every corner; secret levels, warp zones, special achievement bears and especially elusive Golden bears. Taking the time to fully explore the castle’s many levels will prove rewarding!
Penumbear is an immersive experience that recalls the best of classic platformers while presenting something new and exciting for the genre.

Beautifully immersive platformer

Have waited months since hearing about this game and boy was it worth it. Really tough game, with amazing music and atmosphere where the light an shadows change the background to create / hide platforms. Only criticism is that you have to find all bears on a level without making any mistakes, which is really tough. Maybe a small tweak could be made for this?

It could be a bit more casual for my taste. Some levels are pretty tough. Beautiful graphics though, and the score is simple but not obtrusive. Fantastic sound design.

Penumbear offers more hours of enjoyable game play than most $60 games. At $1.99 you can't beat the amount of fun you can have with this game. Don't be fooled by the cute protagonist, many of the levels in penumbear will give you flashbacks to when you wanted to smash your nes controller or burn the cartridge, only to feel like you are on top of the world when you finally conquer a particularly challenging level. Try not to break your ipad/iphone though, they are a little more expensive than those old nes controllers. I have played through almost every level and the pacing is great. After beating a particularly hard platforming level you are often given a "break" with a less unforgiving level. Overall you can't lose with penumbear buy it for your child, buy it your teen, buy it for yourself.

I really like this game but it really is too hard. I'm only at the Blinkers stage and I'm stuck already so I can't play any more of the game. Platforms are too small and very far away from each other- some leading to nowhere. It would be nice if they could have more arrows giving you a hint where to go when all you can see is empty space. Also since you paid for the whole game you should be able to skip as many levels as you want (without having to earn it), that way I might be able to play more of the game.

I can picture my 10 year old self renting this game for Snes on a Friday night and not coming out of my room until Monday (my parents would owe a late fee). This brings me back to the golden age of platformers yet this game boasts more than tight controls. The art is eerie but then you look at PB and just want to pinch him. Plus the main game mechanic is fresh and innovative, walking on the border of light and dark makes me look at shadows in a different way. Meanwhile this game is huge, so many levels and so many "bonus bears" to grab too! Download it now and look for my Brag videos as I show you guys some smoove platforming. Too bad you can't give it 6 ⭐s

This is the best platformer I've seen on iOS and I'd go so far as to put it up there with Braid and Super Meat Boy in terms of fun and originality. Nice work!
