One Step Two Step is an app to help children follow step directions in a fun and interactive way.
The creator is a speech-language pathologist that constantly hears from parents and therapists about the difficulty children have following directions. The ability to follow directions depends upon the child's auditory sequential memory ability, which is the ability to hold information in memory in the order it was given. This ability develops over time. Children at 1 year of age begin to carry out simple one step directions such as 'give me the cup.' Between two and three years of age the child follows 2 step directions and by the time they enter Kindergarten they should be able to follow at least a 3 step direction. Life and school are full of directives. The child who has difficulty in this area is easily left behind or left to follow the other children. Frustration and anxiety build and self esteem often suffers.
One Step Two Step is an app based on the listening-language intervention done on a daily basis by one of the leading speech-language pathologists in the country. AND it's so much fun!
Children can follow directions by listening to directions and then coloring and dragging shapes onto pictures. With 25 different scenes and almost 500 different directions, your child will surely improve as they have a blast making the pictures within come to life! There is also a simple "game" inside to help generalize following and giving directions.
The "Pro" version of the application allows for adding names of kids, allowing multiple kids to participate at one time, and recording and exporting performance data.
I downloaded the lite version thinking that it was free. I wanted to see if I would be interested in purchasing the full version. To my surprise, I was billed $9.99. I want a refund. For that price, all of the features should be included.
I recently purchased this and I am unhappy with it because the "check box" and "the x" and the "triangle" does not click and drag. So 3 of the 6 do not work so the directional steps can not be followed.
I should have trusted the reviews. This app doesn't work - the x, the triangle can't be moved when the direction calls for it ... It's useless. It also it useless because it doesn't help unless there is immediate feedback on whether the direction was followed correctly, so it's a waste of money.
I just purchased this app but apparently it did not download properly as I cannot open it. I would appreciate your immediate attention as I would like to use this app for therapy. Thank you.
