The app also has rich GPS features, such as:

•Advanced GPS Maps, complete with an accuracy and distance indicator, which allow you to access trail data, record tracks from hikes, runs, or bike rides, and view elapsed time and distance traveled.
•Easy-to-cache GPS Terrain Map tiles, which ensure that navigation remains possible in the event of lost mobile reception.
•Photo waypoint feature allowing you to snap a photo and mark and record the coordinates of plant life, animal species or landscape views. Post or share these remarkable finds with family and friends with the click of a button.
•Friend Finder features that tracks friends and family around the parks.

•Potentially life-saving Alert feature that supplies GPS coordinates to designated contacts in case of an emergency.

Other standard features make exploring the great outdoors a breeze:

•Plus so much more!

With the Pocket Ranger® in hand, prepare to bask in the vast natural wonders of Ohio State Parks & Forests!

•The enhanced pro features on the app are designed to function in areas with little to no mobile reception; however, some of the features require mobile data reception in order to function properly.
•Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Tech easy

For someone a little tech challenged, like myself, this app was super easy to use. I navigated through the app soooo easily!

To much information crammed onto one page
Big_G1962

Hard to read. Icons are too small as well as the icon label. Can't pinch and zoom on articles even when rotating my device. When selecting an article you have to select another icon to view the entire article, why? It sure appears that the makers of the app did not thoroughly think and test this out before deploying.

Worst app I've seen in a while
TommyOH02

This app includes a ton of advertising for local car dealerships and did not provide me with any more info than I found through Google. Very basic and not worth the time. Download it and see for yourself. Awful!!

Embarrassing
Mr t 75

Full of ads and uses a lot of cell data. Provides no additional info then the Ohio DNR site. Very hard to navigate. Many buttons are not fully visible on the screen. Can't click on any activities. Very embarrassing to have such a weak app for one of the better state park systems around. It also appears that the app developer is also posting fake self-glorifying reviews.

Horrible App
Mwietro

I have tried over and over again to check availability for campsites, and I just can't get it to work. It won't show me a complete list for one park. It keeps jumping to another park. When in map mode, you can't select a site. That's if the map is even loading at all. Don't bother to even install this app until they work out all the bugs.

Love advertising and bad design? This one's for you!

I'm deeply disappointed my tax dollars helped fund this awful app. The State Parks web site is actually pretty good, and with a few tweaks could be okay on mobile devices. But this app? A travesty. They clearly just went to an app shop and bought something off the shelf, crammed their own data (or lack thereof) in there and called it a day. No doubt the app purveyor is actually collecting the advertising revenue, and that's how the State got it cheap or free. Avoid this app. I deleted it after one run. Just terrible in every way. Go to the State Parks web site and look up stuff there. Much easier.

Poor app
ScrappyRugger

This app is poorly constructed and is very difficult to use. I downloaded it to look up a map of the trails of the state park right by my house. The park wouldn't even show up as a choice in the app. Using the activities search doesn't work either. I would select an activity and no parks would show up; no matter the activity you choose. Don't waste your time with this app.

Tons of Information
Ken6227

A great app for learning about a park system and ALL the things there to do. Easy to navigate. Keep it coming.
