How it works: Upload or scan your documents. Next, take a picture of your license or passport and answer a few security questions - this is how we verify your identity. Then connect with a licensed Virginia electronic notary via an audio/video call to sign and notarize your document. Once your document is notarized, you can download, email, and access the file in the app at any time.
Notarize also accepts documents that require more than one signer.
Notarize agents are held to the highest standards and have completed training, undergone background checks, and independently hold insurance in accordance with notary industry best practices. All Notarize agents are electronic notaries located in Virginia.
Are online notarizations legal? YES. We’re able to provide this service thanks to Virginia Senate Bill 827 and House Bill 2318, which were passed in 2011, enabling Virginia-based notaries to perform electronic notarizations online. The service is available to any US citizen, even those traveling abroad, due to the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the U.S. Constitution as well as laws in every state that explicitly accept out-of-state notarizations.

Website continue to freeze would not notarize on other software had to switch software’s not as easy to follow as I thought it was going to be.

Notarize was extremely helpful and quick! That said, the app is broken. I had to ask my notary to refresh the document 5 or so times because it wouldn’t let me add my signature. She was extremely patient because she was used to peoples phones and tablets not working. If your employees expect the app not to work, you need to fix the app!
