It is impossible you can get to the next island without purchasing they need to make the fish worth more

The new update breaks the Ninja Village; can't collect rents. Gamenauts doesn't respond to problem/bug emails. Special events/fish were only available during their initial release (Halloween 2013, Xmas 2013, Valentines 2014 & Summer 2014) and have never been available since. Why? Shouldn't this be a scheduled/seasonal event? Disappointing for those that have obtained the game since. Due to the current update, I would assume that the developer would be monitoring their problem queue.
New update broke the game

Before update, it was a star game. As mentioned by others, update broke ninja village and game now crashes everytime I try and pick a new fishing area.
