Outstanding Collection

Panegyrist

My mother's family is Canadian, so perhaps I'm biased, but this is an incredible collection of NFB films. They range from educational documentaries to poetry and even investigational pieces. The quality is outstanding, both in terms of video delivery and content. Try it. Its free and fun. I gave four rather than five stars for occasional frustrating lag.

Awesome

Just downloaded onto my iPad mini. Browsing worked fine. Hit play, no video. Only audio.

This app is full of amazing content, excellent shorts with the potential for blowing your mind.

Amazing

I can't believe more people don't know about this app. A great way to work you way through the NFBs catalog and there really is something for everyone. I especially love that you can DL films to watch off-line for 48 hrs (but those longer ones take a while to download). Only negative - wish there was a better way to navigate back thru the library after reading a film describe. Every time I do it kicks me back to the beginning of the list.

Videos won't play

Poor help section brings you right back to this screen. It used to work. Now it just keeps spinning.

Subtle Gem

I regret that it hadn't occurred too me to write this review before. I love the content variety. Something for every one I imagine. If you are sensitive you'll surely find something to offend you because it has films of many things and at times films with opposing points. My recommendation? Do like me and don't watch the items whose very titles offend you. The children's content is nice. For me, I love the simple films such as the "how to build an igloo". It was intriguing and I love to see the skill of two Inuit who slap together a nice dwelling in about 2 hours. A tool or two & you have shelter! Shows about an urban gardener. Shows depicting the life of the migrating Eskimo which life is now gone. Great to watch the old ways but I'm sure they are glad for a life of relatively greater comfort. Cree Hunters of Mistassinee (sp?), great. This review is way too long. Just get it. If you don't like it, I'll refund your ...wait it's free!

Love the selection, but search doesn't work

joecab

I absolutely love having all these great NFB selections available. My only nitpick is that the search function doesn't work well: I searched for both "The Sweater" and "The Cat Came Back" and neither one came up at the top of the search results; in fact, just saying "Sweater" works even though the title in the screen clearly says "The Sweater."

Thank you so much for updating the app!

I am someone in the US who loves NFB content. The old version of the app was clunky, buggy and crashed all the time. This new update is slick and everything works well! I can finally save and rewatch all my favorites again! Thank you so much for finally fixing this app.

if you’re in Canada...

It’s great! Their latest animated content, which is why I downloaded their App, isn’t available in the US. Same story with many of their other shorts. Use YouTube instead; a better experence with far less censorship.
