Cheap, small and accurate
HansinD

I just purchased this application and tried some newly opened streets and newly built residences around Cekmekoy, Istanbul area and the application showed them well. The maps are up-to-date and that matters the most with a navigation application. However the application itself is not the one used for Europe or North America version I guess. It doesn't have the reality view for example, but on the other hand the application works fast in current 3D mode. I expect the software will be updated soon, probably after September 30th when the discount price is over. I give five stars for accuracy, speed and to thank Navigon for developing a navigation app only for Turkey, so we don't have to dedicate over 1 GB of space in our phones to keep the map of all Europe. I'd give a sixth star for the price as well, which is the cheapest option among any other alternative.

Does Kapadokya/Cappadocia exist?
Giacomo_Jay

While visiting my wife's family in Ankara, I decided to take a road trip to Kapadokya. With a limited knowledge of the Turkish language and no experience driving in Turkey, I decided to purchase this Nav App. Imagine my surprise when Navigon did not even acknowledge the historic towns of Göreme and Ürgüp. Larger towns like Avanos and Nevşehir are recognized, so the App did help me get to Kapadokya. After that, I pulled out my map. Don't expect to be guided all the way to your destination even if you are going from large town to large town. I even had issues with the App not recognizing addresses in the capital, Ankara. It is an ok start, but this App is in dire need of an extensive update.

Out in the country? Out of luck!!!!

I love my Navigon USA app so I had high hopes for their Turkey app. Boy did I ever make a mistake! The reviewer who asked whether Cappadocia existed was right on target. Ürgüp, Göreme, Uçhisar? No streets. No POI's. Nothing. How about the Ephesus area? Selçuk? Not much. These are the two biggest tourist destinations in Turkey besides Istanbul! There are similar huge gaps throughout the country. What value is this to the international traveler trying to negotiate these areas? Google maps shows this stuff. Why can't Navigon? I am very, very disappointed with this app. Now I'm going to have to make a major investment in old-fashioned paper maps. Navigon fail. Updated Review - April 2011. Wouldn't you know that Navigon would update their Navteq data just as I finished my trip! So. . .I can't report on whether previous deficiencies have been corrected. I stand by my prior review for version 1.7 with a few minor additions. I have now tested, in real time, this app with the Tom Tom Turkey app. (Tom Tom connected to car radio with third party adaptor, driving companion using Navigon on Ipad. In cities Navigon was great, with more polished interface and reliable directions. In the countryside it peters out, often telling me that my "destination was in a restricted area." Tom Tom Turkey has much more complete data. However, even though I set the switches to avoid unpaved roads, it would sometimes try to take me off a good highway and put me on a "road" that hasn't seen much traffic or upkeep since St. Paul of Tarsus was evangelizing Asia Minor. So. . ..I now give Navigon an A for cities and an F for the countryside. It's a pity because it is a beautiful program. Maybe others will do better with version 1.8

Overpriced, outdated, inconsistent and almost useless
Bob 868

I have Navigon Europe and North America and I love them and use them all the time on my trips. So I assumed that the Turkey version of the Navigon app (which is extremely expensive - costs almost as much as other Navigon apps that cover entire CONTINENTS) would be of the same quality. That was a BIG mistake. Upon arriving to Turkey, I was faced with an almost useless navigation app that didn't have my hotel (not by name, and not by address), wouldn't even find the main roads and intersections in big cities. It wouldn't find intersections of roads even if they were clearly shown on the map. It was pretty useless - the most I could get out of it was manually saving points on the map while standing there so I could find my way back when walking. Since I went straight for the Navigon app based on my good experience with their other apps, I don't know if the competition is any better but my past experience-based blind confidence in and loyalty to Navigon are gone - they let me down with this app, big time!
