Fun

Puzzles I can actually solve. Map to help me without giving too much away. Audio isn't totally annoying.

Addictive!

The Wyzzyrd

Here’s what I like most about this game. You don’t need energy, or lives, or anything else to play. You can get the trail version for free, and if you like it, you can buy the full version for pocket change. No other in-app purchases. It follows a story from start to finish. You have to be pretty clever to solve some of the puzzles, but if you can’t figure them out, you can download the guide, for free, and it gives you the solutions. The only thing I don’t like about the guide is it keeps pestering you to turn on notifications, even after you click cancel. The only downside, is it does finish, and you have to make a new profile to play it again, but why would you? It was very satisfying for the price. I don’t want to play it again, unless I get bored and forget how it ends. It’s a very refreshing change from most of the games in the store.

More dark dreary ...

Mynicknameforme

Same ole same ole.... dark, dismal boring with nothing appealing except the overall concept IF it were to be designed and played without the stupid supernatural occult baloney. Why won't they design a true mystery or detective series without the boring magic ...tired of dark, paranormal themes ...games can be fun and spooky.. but now because if over doing the genre these games have lost all appeal and are just NOT fun anymore with this dull theming!! Give us some spooky but wholesome substance and a real plot.... not this dragging on hoping it gets better drivel

Print!

Jklemtp

The print is so tiny I can’t even see it to play this game :( Ridiculous...

Crashes

BandaiJ

Unplayable, as this game crashes immediately after opening every time. I’m using the newest iPad Pro.

Crap.

EfLYP

This is not MY mystery case files. Nothing like the other ones. Map is awful, a circle with slashes in them. Feels dated even though new. Bad story line. Puzzles very hard even on custom. Bad instructions for puzzles. No hints to get you to look for puzzle pieces, or trophy’s. Morphing objects in hops, don’t show up right away you have to sit there. I will never buy a game again without trial first. Oh and this is from 2017. Since big fish is no longer showing dates on when games 1st came out.

Where's the bonus game?

BadArtist

I really enjoyed this offering. It is dark and creepy, so if you don't want that, you should probably avoid the game. But the description said there's a bonus game and I do not see it in the extras menu. It is not offered from the start menu, either. I redownloaded the game and replayed it just to see if I somehow missed it. It doesn't appear to be there.

I Can't "Veil" My Disappointment! Not the Best MCF!

KimTwilight69

I always loved the MCF series, as it is known for its more interesting and sometimes complex story lines, intricately rendered puzzles, and creative hidden object scenes. However, I enjoyed the storyline in "Broken Hour" better than this storyline, due to its unique concept and well-evolved characters. I find the characters in this game to be uninteresting, and the poorly constructed dialogue fails to showcase their personalities. The quality of the graphics is unremarkable; I think the visuals could be sharpened up to clarify the details. I'm tickled pink that I get to follow the storyline by reading a rarely given journal. You can customize your settings. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. Transition between scenes is smooth and quick; no glitches. The teleport map was most surprising; at first glance, I did not even recognize it as a map. My first reaction was, "what the heck is this?" However, it was not hard to figure out; it was just uniquely presented in both its layout and the design of the task indicators. It does enable smooth travel to desired locations. I think that the HOSs are creatively executed throughout the first half of the game; one memorable type was where you move back and forth between three interactive areas while engaging in a "Find and Use" fashion. For example, you will find an item within one interactive area and apply that item to one of the other two interactive areas. Unfortunately, creativity diminishes as one progresses; and the formats become heavy on the traditional word lists. The main reason why I look forward to this series has to be the compound super puzzles -- those that are composed of a network of individual micro-puzzles in which the solutions of such in consecutive order are weaved together cohesively to complete the puzzle as a whole. The only downside is that these super puzzles are not as super difficult as they were in this game's predecessors. I'm referring to "Dire Grove, Sacred Grove" and "Fates Carnival"; some of the super puzzles in those two games were mind-bending. The puzzles in this series are more conceptually innovative than in other series; however, too many in this game were on the simple side. I came across a singular collectible; but I appreciate the collectible indicator since the scenes are very dark, making finding the collectibles a bit hard on the eyeballs. This is, by far, one of my least favorite MCF games. The storyline and the gameplay lack a "wow" factor, failing to draw me into the plot. I'm a little bored. My true rating is 3.5 stars; however, I've lowered my rating to 3 stars.

Great game

Excellent storyline and great artwork. Puzzles present a real challenge but are interesting.

Puzzles impossible!

I’m a LONG time player of BFGs and the main interest for me are adventure games and the puzzles..couldn’t care less about HOGs. Rarely used the skip button on those until this game! To say they were hard is an understatement... I even had to use the hint button for the hidden objects! If you want a real challenge, go for it... but I found it incredibly frustrating. The interactive map is kinda weird too. I’m sticking with it til the end since I paid, but the fun factor rates a negative since I needed so much hand-holding to get through it.
