Can be better

Erik Johanson

The app won't allow me to draw certain symbols. For example, a floor round symbol. The app instead renders a square brace. It is very annoying!

Pretty useless

mathterri

It can indeed render your writing into latex but that is it. You can do nothing with what you generate. It is impossible to determine if it would be useful to buy. There is no way to test it and I cannot found out what apps are compatible hence it would seem that I would have to pay first and then see if it works. I do not understand the point of the free version of the app.

Free version not very useful

First of His Name

With the free version, it is impossible to copy or export the LaTeX or MathML conversion of what you write. It's disappointing because these are crucial functions of this app. There is little purpose in distributing the free version if it is impossible to do these things.

Great for use as a latex or mathml reference

People complain about not being able to export. Well, you can still use the app for free and use it more as a reference guide for Latex. Now that Apple's Pages finally supports Latex, I've been using this app to help me write Latex equations by learning the code. Whenever I don't know how to write an expression, I come here to look it up. Sure, it would be nice if there was free exporting, but seriously, if it's that helpful to you, buy the app and support the developers. You can always export pictures for free (which is what I had to do anyway before Pages supported equations). If I used this app more, I would buy it to help the developers.

This is a joke.

The app cannot even generate derivative of f(x): f'(x). It just add a comma there. The myscript products are still on the level of toys. I believe they eventually can make productivity product maybe 5 years later.

Definitely worth it.

Using this app for free is ok for informal projects, but paying a few bucks to be able to write out almost any equation – or most of almost any equation (there're a few bugs here and there) – and then export it in code is a huge time and money saver. Great app. Definitely worth it.

Good foundation with room for improvement

UTE 415

This app is great for simpler single-line expressions. However, long expansions with super- and subscripts get messy. The "responsive areas" where I'd write them are too small / insensitive. Also, there needs to be palm-rejection when using a stylus. I'd love to see updates for this product. I'm currently in a CFD class, and this tool could significantly reduce the hassle of digitizing long equations when coupled with Sharelatex or other editor!

So much potential

Please let me pay you for this app so you can improve its development. This is the best app for iOS do write math equations, and yet it has ways to go.

The Apple Newton lives....

Upstate NY

Anyone who remembers the frustration of the handwriting recognition on the Apple Newton will be taken back to those days- it needs a lot of improvement in this app. In particular, the integral symbol usually requires multiple attempts to create, the app usually takes it for an “r”. And you must use a curvy italic style to get the variable “x”, otherwise you get multiplication (this should be a setting, I know of no advanced math textbooks that actually use the multiplication symbol). These are just a couple examples. However, once you manage to get your formulas and equations written, it is quite nice in its ability to capture and export your images. There’s a really good app in here just dying to get out- but more work is needed.

In-App Purchase

Mike in the Valley

I would like to be able to use this app in my work with blind students, but because the ability to export LaTeX and MathML is only available by in-app purchase, my institution will not allow me to make the purchase. This can be easily solved by allowing us to make an up-front purchase by the educational institution. Please fix this. I emailed you about this privately about a month ago, but haven’t heard back from you regarding this issue.
