What does 21st century gardening look like? Like Gro. The app that learns what’s happening in your yard – weather, soil conditions, more. Then it inspires you with no-fail projects, timed perfectly. We call it the Connected Yard. You call it finally.
People have been farming and growing plants for about 12,000 years. But apparently we still haven’t learned squat. Gro aims to fix that.
By connecting your outdoor spaces to your phone, we make growing easier and better for everyone. From the clued-in to the clueless. It all happens when your yard goes from quiet and disconnected to talkative and connected.
Get to Know Your Yard.
Discover quick, high-success projects for what’s happening, right now, on your little spot on earth. For example:
• The right time for planting tomatoes without frostbite
• A unique version of New York’s famous Highline plantings, simplified for your backyard
• Get a buzz on with your own mixology garden
• A radically simplified approach to lawn care
We know that the biggest source of gardening fails is when people do the right thing at the wrong time – and Gro was created to stop that. What’s more, when you do things right, it means you need less water and can garden sustainably.
Gro identifies hundreds of different plants or shrubs that will thrive in your neck of the woods – how to plant them, care for them, and show your love. Plus you’ll get helpful reminders, because plants don’t forget, but human beings do.
We’ve also created new ways to get you started. We’ve composted the gardening encyclopedia and replaced it with digestible videos and quick-start instructions so anyone can get growing and succeed.
How does Gro work? Our Gro app automatically pulls in info about your local conditions – temperature, humidity, pest info, wind speeds, the forecast – from hundreds of government and private sources.
What’s more, many companies are joining our “Works with Gro” system. When you pair their devices to Gro, we can give you even more accurate information based on the moisture level of your soil and other info. You can even automate irrigation for projects in our app. Gro’s partners include Blossom, PlantLink and GreenIQ. More to come!
Your phone is the remote control of your life indoors. Now it’s the remote control of your life outdoors.
If I watered my snake plant, my pothos, and my aloe “every 2-3 days” they would all die. I hope people consult a different app or website before killing all the plants they just bought...
تطبيق غبي طريقة التسجيل ممله وغبيه علي طول يبي رقم تلفونك وايميلك والرمز البريدي والمشكله دخلته كلهم وهم مادخلني التطبيق
I would expect some minimal QA, and regardless, I don’t understand: 1) why can’t they find other ways to get my location 2) why can’t I proceed without entering this information
Sadly, this is another garden app that’s going into my compost bin. After entering my zip code, presumably to allow for location specific information, and then selecting my interests, the app states on all of my garden interests that “Nothing’s in season yet”. In reality, I’m already planting kale, peas, lettuce, and onions - as I have every year at this time for the last 30+ years. Look, I get it. Making a garden app is challenging because of the variability of weather, location, soil conditions, level of education, and 1000 other variables but to suggest that there is no information available for my area at this time of year or tasks that I need to focus on now in order to have a successful spring garden is outright failure on the part of the product owners of this app. Having an app is convenient but only when it offers more value than my current methods. I’ll guess I’ll stick to my tried and true paper journals and Google Sheets for another year.
We aren’t in season now so I haven’t used the app to its full extent, but I like it so far. Would love the addition of a “pet friendly” filter for indoors!
Lo tengo venque borrar no permitía el acceso al app y el problema era no daba acceso al país.. Puerto Rico y EEUU.. Lo volveré a intalar!! Veremos
I love this app. It helps me with watering reminders. I just wish there were more plant varieties (which, I get it, are too many varieties for one app to hold bit a few more common ones would be great), my other complaint is that it doesn't notify you when its time to water your plants. It asks if I'll allow notifications and then it never notifies me so then I need to mark down when I need to water my plants so I remember and then I need to remember to go into the app to mark it off my to so list. It's a lengthy process. I also kinda wish the plants that get marked off would go to the bottom of the list so I can be looking at the next ones so I don't have to keep going in and out of the plants to see which one needs to be watered yet.
Cannot get past first screen because every zip code i enter is “invalid”.
