This app allows pasting your new Morse Code ringtone sound into an iOS GarageBand track, thus allowing one to create a ringtone directly on a iOS device, without having to Sync with iTunes. You can also email your new Morse Code ringtone to yourself or a friend, and use iTunes Sync on a Mac or PC to install it. (This is not a simple one-step process, as Apple requires a user to find some hidden buttons in either GarageBand on iOS or iTunes on a Mac, plus use the Settings app in order to install a new custom ringtone.)

With Morse Code Ringtone Maker, you can customize the text and the Morse Code/CW speed (combined up to 30 seconds), as well as the the tone frequency. The Words-Per-Minute (WPM) speed is variable from 5 to 40 WPM. The tone frequency is customizable from 300 to 1200 Hz. On the customization page, you can additionally configure Farnsworth timing where the dots and dashes for each letter come even faster than the WPM of the letters. For different timbres, select Sinewaves, Square-waves or Triangle-waves for your tone sound.

Reviews

Yes, this works as advertised.

This is my first app review. I was leery of spending the money on this give the negative reviews, but I took the plunge. The app works exactly as advertised, and the directions are quite clear and concise. I used the GarageBand method rather than iTunes, and found it easy and fast. If you can follow directions, and you’re capable of basic iPhone operations, this is a piece of cake. Really cool app if you’re a CW junkie like I am!

Worked just fine
Eimac572B

The technique for getting the ringtones into the phone is a little roundabout. But, I suspect that has more to do with iOS than with the app itself. I found that the inter word spacing worked out better if I added a space at the end of the text for the ringtone.

Using an iMac & iTunes…
JD Brambach

Step1) email your CW ring tone 2)control click on the “play bar icon” in the email & choose “save to Downloads Folder” 3) connect iPhone/open iTunes & open device 4) drag .m4r file from Downloads over the section (in iTunes) below your iPhone that says “On My Device” & drop it in “Tones” 5)Open settings on your iPhone & go to “Sounds & Haptics” and choose your CW ring tone!!!! 73 de KY9I

Not What I Hoped

Program was a disappointment. Installed on my iPhone X. Things that won’t work... Trying to email ringtone the send button stays disabled Importing created ringtone into Garage Band app is a nightmare. No communication between apps. Gave up after many tries. Even though the is only a few dollars, don’t waste your money on this one!

Waste of $3.00
EcoBoost11

When using this app it’ll transfer your ringtone to Garage Band but then it’s grayed out so you can’t do anything with the file.

Misleading to advertise it as a ringtone maker
Junk123432

It’s an audio file maker for morse from text. Turning that into a ringtone is a whole different story and is definitely not within the capabilities of the application. Grossly misleading description to say the least. Just be aware that you will have to do some acrobatics to use any output from this app as a ringtone. Also, when the 5-star reviews include 7 step convoluted procedures to turn that audio file into a ringtone, something’s up. Make your own judgement on that.

Fail with ios13.7
fogmanla

No longer works with iOS 13.7. GarageBand rejects paste

Instructions out of date
K3AJ

I first used this app a few years ago and the instructions for using it with Garage Band were good. Since then, Garage Band has been changed a lot and the instructions are no longer useable. I managed to add a new ringtone using instructions available in the second of two links given on the Morse Ringtone web site. Even that didn’t work exactly as shown. But after a lot of trial and error, I managed to add a new Morse code ringtone. I can not recommend this app at all since the average person can not use it based on the instructions required. If you are willing to invest an hour or so googling how to use Garage Band to access a file created by this app you might be able to get it to work after a lot of trial and error.

Works Great
Wihe2

I’ve been using this for several years now. Never had a problem with it.

Works great!

I had no problems creating a ringtone on my iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 11.3. Garage Band is required, but once you figure it out, it works great.
