Where’s the news? Oh, here it is between an ad and a week old sponsored “article.” Like the old version better.

Good concept - has irritating bugs

I want to like this app but it has many minor UI bugs when setting up topics of interest and locations of interest. Disclaimer: I am an employee of Microsoft Corporation. My views do not necessarily reflect those of my employer. I am not involved with the team that made this app.

The news was better in the old app .

Hope needed

aejla

Your news reads more like propaganda than news stories and it has the same stories over and over, without discussion of viable, realistic solutions or attempts among the opposition to the current government to recommend solutions to the issues you report all day long. I am just the kind of person who, once a problem is identified, looks forward to hearing how it is going to be solved- that kind of reporting provides hope.

(Updated) don't install update if you haven't already.

The Bing News app on Windows Phone devices was perfect. It was clean, easy, and put reading first, and all the bells and whistles of sharing and social network stuff second. Now it's rebranded or revive-branded to MSN, and available on iOS. 5 stars. UPDATEx1:. Constantly crashes. Not sure why Microsoft broke the app in an update. 1 star review. UPDATEx2: Microsoft pushed out a new update. This was first a 5 star review, then 1 star after a update caused it to crash after viewing a news article. Now it's 4 stars after they fixed it. 4 stars because it took them months to fix it. UPDATEx3:. The crashes are back in Feb 2018. Rating it a 1 again. I cannot read more than 2 news articles before it crashes. UPDATEx4:. Still crashing. However I've found that if I connect my phone to a VPN the crashes stop and I can read article after article. UPDATEx5:. They fixed the crashing issue. Thank you. All is well again. I can read multiple articles again. I like that when I pick one article to read it also prefetches/caches the article before and after that. I utilize that feature for the point in my commute where I enter a tunnel and have no service, but the app gives me 3 articles to read without any cell service. UPDATEx6:. The latest update that came out around July 1, 2018, now includes "sponsored" articles. It's clearly stated but also unwanted. Give me ads instead, or accept purchased ad removal. It also removed the full screen reading view which was one of the most compelling feature over all the other news apps.

MSN was better

Marytoo

Why oh why do companies fix things that aren’t broken? The pre-Microsoft MSN News app was great - clear, well-organized, easy to follow. The new version is just annoying. Guess I’ll revisit NBC, CBS, etc. to find a better one.

Needs Work Still

There are issues with this app on my iPad. Sometimes it doesn’t open and gives me a blank white screen. It’s forgotten my favorites settings several times. There’s several article that include scrollable content (e.g. articles like top ten things to throw away in your kitchen). With these articles the text content describing the image doesn’t advance properly when my iPad is in landscape mode. The text content skips every other image. It seems to work fine in portrait mode. However in portrait mode there’s not enough space to display all of the text content. Why wouldn’t developers test these types of features on several platforms before releasing the app? It is an improvement over the last version though because with the last version I could never get video content to play on my iPad or iPhone.

New msn format

Hate it. Too many ads and stories update slower than a newspaper

Another Change for the Worse.

New format

I don’t like the new format. The “introduction” takes too long. It’s not needed.
