Very rarely does computer programming transcend mundane functionality and become an art form. MeteoEarth is one such extraordinary program. Educational and informative are mundane words to describe MeteoEarth. In reality, it puts under your fingertips almost godlike power to explore, manipulate and understand the majesty and complexity of the earth's coupled, semi-chaotic, constantly evolving and never repeating weather and by extension, climate. MeteoEarth is the very first app I downloaded for my new Apple TV and it is equally impressive on that platform. From the exquisite detail of the maps to spinning the entire earth under your fingers with a single pinch, MeteoEarth is the rare program that empowers you to have a far better understanding of this beautiful place we call our home.

The wind force, direction, plus cloud cover provide an excellent several day window forecast for boating. Have found it to be very accurate and really fascinating to see how wind patterns a thousand miles away affect local sailing conditions. If an early explorer had had access to Meteo he would have been considered either a sorcerer or a god. Truly amazing.
