Melody Man is an application for the iPhone simulating a melodion. By blowing into the microphone while pressing
on the keys you can easily play the melodion on your iPhone or iPod Touch 2g (iPod Touch 2g users should notice that Apple's special microphone hardware is necessary).
IPod Touch 1g users can unfortunately not make use of the microphone feature but you can still play the game by selecting the "Mic Off" mode which
will let you play by just pressing the keys.

Moreover a piano player and a sequencer is included. The sequencer will show you in an easy way how you are supposed to press and a piano will help you in the background. In other words this application gives you both a melodion and a piano player.

Melody Man also includes 3 different voices (refer to the list below) and 20 songs (refer to the list below).

Reviews

Okay

It wasn't what I expected. I am a little disappointed but I have only had the app for about 3 minutes. The sound quality isn't great but do-able. I just would have spent 3 bucks on this app. But who knows, maybe I will warm up to it and write a better review.

interesting concept - but crashes, ease of use issues

Interesting 'play along by following the arrow on the keyboard' concept. And 'tip the keyboard to shift the octave' is a cool solution to allow large keys in limited space. Unfortunately, the default "blow into it" setting isn't a good match with getting started or reading the screen. And it crashed several times in the first few minutes. Without a proper help screen or Settings page, I can't even tell if it's working right. For $3 I expected something more polished. I'm disappointed and hope there's an upgrade soon. ...I'm updating my original review slightly after my mate was able to play "Auld Lang Syne" on the keyboard with Melody Man. So a non-musician had some satisfying music fun. If it was upgraded with proper piano sounds, didn't need 'blow into it" by default, lower price, and didn't crash, this might be a cool app.
