Reviews

Great fun!

As far as cons go, some people complained about lag but I didn't notice it much. The controls are a bit hard to get used to, but I beat the game on hard so they are learnable. Very enjoyable, I really wish there were more such games on the App Store. Also PLEASE release the the game boy mega man games and/or MM9 and 10! I would definitely be willing to pay two dollars apiece. Many thanks for releasing these and I hope you keep them coming. Soli Deo Gloria!

Barely playable

Capcom's idea of optimizing one of their classics for smart phones is borderline baffling. The game plays at a snail's pace and even though there is a setting to adjust the game's speed, it doesn't run near as smooth as Mega Man 5 did on the NES. The frame rate is god-awful, like it's so inconsistent that it's unpleasing to look at. Speaking of unpleasing to look at, the graphics look squished. I'm not too familiar with the technical side of how in-game graphics work, but when you play Rock Man 5 on the 3DS Legacy Collection (not Mega Man 5 because it runs awful on there), each pixel is a perfect square. On Mega Man 5 Mobile, the pixels are a random assortment of squares and rectangles which look unappealing. Mega Man 5 Mobile is the epitome of horrendous ports, but knowing Capcom's track record for disappointing Mega Man fans, I shouldn't expect otherwise.

Disappointed
Powerman30005

I'm in my mid 30's and have owned about every version of mega man on every platform since its inception - I can say without hesitation that this is the worst release of the series by a mile. The framerate is ridiculously slow, the hit detection is off, enemies don't respawn and move in the same manner, sound effects and music is incomplete, controls need improvement (09 iOS Mega Man 2 was light years better in every way) etc, etc, etc. I beg you Capcom, please update this as it would be amazing to have decent versions of 1-6 on the go!

Terrible
Chipptune

This version of the game is the worst that I've ever played. Do not buy.

Classic
Unhappy ROTT

Looks feels and sounds just like I remember! No complaints at all!

Decent

One of the better mobile ports, thankfully.

The control system is the worst

You play mega man 2 and the game is smooth and controls clean. This version is awful and the controls are horrendous!

No controller support
Adrian232

I don't understand why this game doesn't have controller support, especially considering version 1 came out less than a year ago. The D-pad on the iPad version is way too big, and the action buttons are too far spaced out to use efficiently. You can switch button configurations, but there are no other options beyond that. The game also uses no touch-optimized controls even when they would make sense (choosing a level, options menu, etc) further confounding why there is no controller support. In addition, the game runs very sluggishly, skipping frames often and feeling very "floaty" on the so-called normal speed. At first I thought this was to give the game more of an authentic 80s console experience, but it was definitely never this bad. In short, this is an incredibly lazy port of a great classic game. Kind of a shame, and I hope they update it to fix these problems (but I don't have my hopes up since this is Capcom we are talking about and the game is like $1, hardly on the top of their priority list).

Not playable without MFi support
Ryusui

Seriously? No support for MFi controllers? This game was hard enough on the NES, but on a touchscreen, it’s near impossible to play. How much harder is it to add support for a physical controller? The graphics and sound are amazing - this is a beautiful port from the 8-bit era. But without the controller support...it’s just app store fodder.
