Great way to learn and study. I hope it is here to stay.

Mac 3030

I use Cam Scan to import my hand written notes as a PDF file. Then use Margin Notes to organize and rework my notes. Then I use the cards to review my notes. Very effective in learning. Some of the features are a little buggy that is why the 4 stars. Importing a web page doesn't seem to work as the manual describes. But all in all I think it is great. If they get everything working it will be over the top, a 5+. I worry that I will get it ingrained into my work flow and then one day the app will disappear. That is what happened with a great app that I use called Daily Routine.

Awesome App

I'm surprised this app isn't more popular given how many features and applications it has. I agree with the other reviewers that it takes some time to learn how to use it but it's definitely worth it. I've been looking for an app to help me organize and develop flash cards for learning Farsi. Since Apple doesn't support a Farsi keyboard and the language is written right to left, most apps are useless. But this app allows me to quickly create flash cards using the PDF study materials I already have so I don't need to type the characters at all. It's brilliant! The only thing I haven't found a way to do yet is adjust how big or small a highlight is when it is turned into a flash card. Some of the highlighted characters are so big they don't fit on the screen and I have to scroll to see the whole image. Others are so small they're hard to see. It would be nice to have "fit to screen" option. Or if there is, I haven't found it yet.

A fluid reading experience and frictionless research capabilities

I use MarginNote in my research over a broad range of subjects. It has a highly intuitive user experience and immediately became indispensable for organizing my library, tracking my thoughts, and synthesizing information across all of my reference material. It offers the best possible mix of features and functions--if I were to design the perfect research tool it would be MarginNote. Some of the key functions include: the ability to read and notate both pdf and ePub formats, as well as websites; creating notebooks to consolidate notes across multiple sources; creating flash cards to aid in learning and recall; visually linking notes and ideas using the mind mapping interface; organizing libraries into collections; split views allowing me to compare and reference multiple passages simultaneously; and the fact that it is available in both iOS and Mac formats. My impression is that MarginNote was created by people who are passionate about research and adept at designing the perfect tools for all tasks and phases of the research lifecycle with one caveat: I use Zotero for gathering reading material into a robust database. My only feature request is that MarginNote provide Zotero integration, or build such functionality into the design. Papership is the only iOS app I'm aware of that integrates with Zotero to support the reading, notating, and writing phases of my research. However, Papership is incomparable to the robust functionality of MarginNote. But while Papership provides Zotero integration, its deficiencies when compared to MarginNote make it anemic and considerably slower alternative. Even though I need to manually add my Zotero library items to MarginNote, MarginNote remains the uncontested champion in the realm of e-readers and research tools. I am truly baffled by the speed with which I am now able to move through vast amounts of literature in an organized way. My highest recommendation and a big thank you to the designers of MarginNote! I use it every day and would be lost without it. Get this app!!

Very complex

I like the app. I think I just need to spend more time figuring it out.

The ability to selectively emphasize key terms and phrases within highlights is a great addition. The ability to select annotations by find text, color, and tag and to copy/move that selection to a new notebook allows for sophisticated annotation management. VERY USEFUL. And the export capabilities to Evernote and other tools make this a critical part of my workflow.

Excellent tool for studying

Andrew_Beeber

I bought this app to help study for some cyber security exams and love it. The ability to decompose a document by concept, topic, or by keyword is huge. This will be my go to app for all my professional reading.

The Best Note taking app PERIOD
