Mahjong Solitaire (Ad-Free)

Mahjong solitaire is a solitaire matching game that uses a set of Mahjong tiles rather than cards. The computer game was originally created by Brodie Lockard in 1981 and named Mah-Jongg after the game that uses the same tiles for play. Lockard claims that it was based on a centuries-old Chinese game called "the Turtle". However, it was not until Activision released Shanghai in 1986 for the Macintosh and Apple IIgs that the game gathered momentum. A version of this game was also included in the Microsoft Entertainment Pack for Windows 3.x in 1990 and went by the name Taipei. It was subsequently included in the Best of Windows Entertainment Pack. Premium editions of the Windows Vista operating system and Windows 7 include a version of the game known as Mahjong Titans.

As any other successful game, millions of clones have been created on all possible platforms. So why should you give our version a try? We tried to recreate all the fun of original game with 60 different layouts in a tiny download package.
A tile that can be moved left or right without disturbing other tiles is said to be exposed. Exposed pairs of identical tiles (Flower and Seasons tiles in the same group being considered identical) are removed from the layout one at a time, gradually exposing the lower layers to play. The aim of the game is to clear the layout by pairing up all the tiles. The game is finished when either the layout is empty, or there are no exposed pairs remaining.

Beautiful tiles, simple design
Lilstaroftexas

Aesthetically pleasing design & layout. Simple & straightforward for play. Gorgeous colors. I was looking for a well-designed solitaire game that didn't scream at me with 3-D movement, crazy timers or penalties, or unnecessary graphics, opponents, or extraneous features. I deduct a 1/2 star because the tiles are indeed very tiny on my iPhone, and I find my screen inching closer & closer to my face. Perhaps that cannot be helped, I don't know. In spite of that slight drawback, I love the game & am enjoying the large number of tile layout options, some of which I have never seen before.

Loved the Shanghai Games...love this...want other Shanghai Games

I love this game. It was a pleasant surprise the day I found it. Years ago I received a game cd with a new computer. It was called Shanghai and I was quickly addicted to all of the games on the cd. Mahjong Solitaire is lots of fun and a great way to relieve stress. My only hope is that the developers will bring us the other games that were on the Shanghai cd. I don't remember the names, however they all used Mahjong tiles but were manipulated differently. The one I liked best let the player slide rows of tiles. Again, lots of fun and worth the purchase price!

I have enjoyed this game so much. I have tried just about all the different layouts but none can beat this one. What makes it so great for me is the color of the tiles and the ease of finding matches. The only thing I would change is the back ground color.maybe give some color selections that are easy on the eyes.one more thing please, please make more layouts . Maybe there is a #2 of this game. Let me know. Thanks, s.gollie
