Far more than just picking up litter, the worldwide community of Litterati users are building the most powerful crowd-sourced set of data on litter ever assembled.
This data is being used to:
* Help cities better utilize their waste management services
* Convince companies to change their operations to be more sustainable
* Arm individuals and organizations with proof to create government policy changes
Litterati also shows you the map of your personal positive impact on the environment
You can join global cleanup challenges as well as create challenges in your community where your friends, family, neighbors, school system, or co-workers can join together to make your area healthy, clean, & beautiful.
This planet that we call home is a big place to keep clean. We all need to play our part.
Here is how the Litterati app works....
When you see a piece of litter on the ground:
(1) Take a photo of it through the camera in the Litterati App
(we call this a LitterPic)
(2) Litterati will automatically geo-tag the photo for you so that the litter is accurately captured
(3) Our LitterAI tool will automatically assess what the litter is by adding "tags" to each LitterPic. This is to accurately categorize each piece of litter.
You can also upload the photos to the Litterati database directly from your phone's photo gallery as well if you'd prefer.
Once you've taken your first LitterPic, you can begin to track your personal impact as well as the total impact of the Litterati community
Join the global Litterati community today to be a part of over 150,000 people in over 117 countries around the world in the combined effort to clean up our planet!
I was upset to not find any data on what was found but this app has encouraged me to pick up a lot more litter and it never stops at just one. It's like Easter but helping the planet!!!
I just downloaded it after watching a Ted talk just amazing making the world a better place with goodness and kindness??????
Very good idea. The description implies that you can view the impact, through how the litter data is quantified, but this is not available. We expected to see how our contribution fits in with everybody else's in the graphical representation of charts at different levels - city, state, country, and world wide; but there are no charts. This is a one-way-app; upload your pictures, and you only get a number of total items uploaded by all. Part of the fun would be to have access to those charts. They are only available for the developers use to promote the app. Please provide the charts or clearly state in the description that the charts shown in the Ted talk are not part of the app. Thank you.
Great concept and amazing customer service! I mentioned within the app how nice it would be to have access to the maps shown in the TED talk and within 24 hours I got a response from Jeff with gratitude for reaching out and helpful links. Love the idea and hope this app takes off.
Y'all should ok the loading screen where it shows how much trash is being picked up, make it where every new photo of trash, is the actual loading screen since you can't see where every-body is picking up trash! Otherwise it could just be random numbers adding and we wouldn't know.
I like this app and the idea of it. I hope companies such as Starbucks are getting the idea that their containers/packaging/products are irresponsible.. I would however like to see other people's uploads, and would like to upload from my own gallery. I don't like that you can only take pictures of trash through the app.
I found out about this app from TED Talks and I love this it and what it does! Unfortunately, every time I try to upload a photo the app crashes.
An app with big plans and good intentions. Something that should've started so long ago. As a former boy scout I remember policing campsites before and after our stay searching for any and all litter. Earth is a beautiful place, let's try and leave it looking better than we found it!
I adore this app and I’m really excited to get more folks on board with litter pick up. The app works well and is easy to navigate. It would be cool to have a map aspect at some point in the future.
