Somewhat good

I know, the positive reviews are real, but please allow the font library to be used with fonts stored in a place in Files other than iCloud. Besides, my iCloud storage is full, so what’s the point of storing fonts there when you might as well make a subfolder for Vectornator dedicated entirely to the custom font library?

Wonderful design tool

Cforcalvin

As a professional designer / illustrator, yes we all agree it’s important that design tools are robust with features- but sadly too many products still lack the user delight aspect. It’s a godsend that some companies are willing to put work into a pleasant environment. We sit in front of these tools all day, so it’s great when these tools are fun to use, delightful to stare at, at the same time giving you a good amount of features to complete your projects. There are probably plenty of other pros that will whine about the lack of feature set compared to other iPad apps, so I’m not going to get into lengthy comparisons. All I’ll say is this: since my first iPad, I’ve used a competitor that is almost as robust as Adobe Illustrator and I’ve been relying on it until now. Sadly, it’s also as depressing to use as Illustator. I think tools that are both useful and a pleasure to use, are vital.

Great Update Vectornator X

MarkNance

Vectornator X Interface update is great! If you have held out on purchasing now May be your time. I love designer but this app I find to be a faster/smoother experience especially on a first gen iPad Pro.

Auto Trace Feature: It’s a Start

SMKartiat

Everything Else about Vectornator is great. I just want to focus on the most exciting feature: Auto Trace. The Good: At least you have taken an interest in Bitmap to Vector conversion, and that means you will be upgrading and making this better and better, hopefully beating Adobe Illustrator. The Bad: You got a long way to go. The image results I have gotten with my hi res images shows a lot of choppiness and inconsistencies in the trace. Looks nothing like your demo video. At All. This needs more settings and options; just like Illustrator. You have to have those options to help get a clean perfect trace. I think you have over sold and underdelivered on your feature. However, this is the first time ANYONE developing for iOS has taken Bitmap to Vector seriously. The guy who does Imaengine does Bitmap to Vector but has no intention on making his tool for serious use. Yet his lines are so smooth! Take a look at Imaengine and see what you could learn from that app. Bottom line; so glad you have taken the challenge of making a proper Auto Trace app/feature for the iOS design community.

IT has changed

Bluzircon

I downloaded the original Vectornator and have liked it well. But this new release....X....I can’t get even get past how to change the stroke and outline colors to be different or how to widen the brush.....and no tutorials can be found on how to do this since it has changed! I’m struggling...and I really want to like this!

Update is bad

bethu8

After Vectornator X came out nothing that I try to do to previous as well as new artworks will not work. I can’t even use the pen tool. It was fine before the update and I would have given it 5 stars.

Loved the original

Lilliumflos

I loved the original app. This update isn’t too bad but it is missing a few things I loved in the old one. The eye dropper tool is completely missing from the main tool bar. I loved the easy access for the eye dropper. Although I am a big fan of how the delete tool works. In the past when you hit delete it would delete your whole line work rather then just the point you made. That has been fixed and I am really happy with this! I just want to see the eye dropper in the same place as before.

Auto trace not working well

Willieh

Nice app, but the Auto trace not working well. I tried many configurations, but even with simple LineArt, the conversion is very bad. The line work is very poor and hard to manipulate. The app has a lot of potential to be better. I am looking forward to a better version. It still needs some work. I give the developers a lot of credit for trying to implement an auto-travel tool. It’s just not ready.

Not bad, but missed the mark

Intox9

For such a proclaimed improvement I don’t understand why it’s so challenging to simply choose a fill color and then have the brush paint with the chosen color. It’s 15 minutes in trying this simple task and I still can’t figure it out. I choose a fill, then I start drawing with the brush tool and the fill immediately goes back to black. Ok .... just figured out what’s happening, and it’s not good. You can’t simply set the stroke to none and then start drawing. If you set the stroke to none, then start drawing, the app nulls out your selected color and sets both the fill and stroke to black. You have to start drawing, then later select the shape and remove the stroke and change the fill. Way way waaaaaaaaaaaay too much friction. Anyway ... haven’t explored much deeper than this, but the way that the update was described it sounded like it was going to be a significant overhaul, but I’m not feeling the improvements. That said, it’s still a good app given the limited number of apps to choose from that are competing in this space.

Was good....

With the new update the app has become impossible to use. I don’t know how to select things without going into layers and clicking the individual icon. Even then, I’m not able to move it. I hope this gets fixed because a lot of my unfinished art is on this app
